Should I stop my dog from humping this pillow?

Oh my! My dog is humping this pillow and I want to know if I should stop it? because he gets this weird thing going on with his d!ck and it gets red, swollen, and DRIPS! So I think that means he is erect! Ewww!

Small dogs seem to do this behavior…I’ve yet to see a large do it…but if it drives ya crazy, do stop the behavior…a tin can with pennies in it…a loud verbal noise (shhhtt!!)…a spray bottle…anything that will distract the dog…then take away the toy…

Yes, that is what it means.

Dogs need to deal with their own natural urges, and often, they will do it in this manner (my mother’s dog favoured a stuffed elephant).

You can discourage the behaviour, but stopping it will be more difficult. Even dogs who are neutered will often do this.

Answer #3

uh I suggest you get him neutered, if you already did because only 80% of dogs stop the hormonial behavior thensquirt him with a water bottle, distract him with anything loud noises, stuff like that.

Answer #4

Uhm yeah my dog loves his minnie mouse… There’s not much you can do about it, you might want to consider getting him neutered, (usually helps, not a guarantee though)

Answer #5

Yes you should stop him because that’s a bad habit. Also, get him neutered ASAP. It will curb the humping and decrease his chances of getting cancer.

Answer #6

If he favors that pillow over anything else, you might want to a) clean it.. sterilize it, and b) use a pet-friendly freshening spray on it like Fabreeze (?. Not sure how pet friendly they are). Helps get rid of the scent, and might help him leave it alone. If he takes to humping something else, just discourage him from it and let him know he’s being bad. Don’t take to abuse though…

How old is he? If he’s still pretty young, he may grow out of it.
