You probably feel as the world is crashing over you, with nothing to do but watch it crumble. This is a time where you should sit down and really listen to your heart! Is being with your Grandma that is sick important to you! Are you able to make time to visit with family you’ll leave in CT?

My parents divorced when I was about five, and my mom chose to move to California leaving my Dad and family all the way in Canada. Somewhere in my childhood I chose to move back up to Canada and live my dad, leaving my brother and mom behind. It was a guilt I fought for years! The point is we are not in control of our parents decisions, but we do have a choice in how we handle the way we show our love to our family members no matter how far away they may be!

No matter how far apart your family is you can always keep them in your heart, and keeping communication lines open is pertinent to doing this. I chose after University to move back to California and now wake up each morning to write a detailed e-mail to my relatives up north .. we write back and forth every day! You’ll never stop missing them, and this is going to be most difficult, but just keep your love and faith strong, and it will get better no matter what decision you end up making.

Prayer whether your a believer or not is always a good way to start as well! It’s amazing what happens when we voice our concerns out loud, whether it be to someone or no one!

Anytime you need to just let out some feelings feel free to write! Good luck! Alyssa
