Good point. You know he never really explains that too well in the book. I do know that several times he says that you should not harm anyone else against their own will. The only time hurting someone would be ok - is if it is in sex play and they are willing and wanting to be hurt. He never goes into why though. That’s definatly something I need to look into.

I also agree with you captain - that is the worst name he could have came up with because it gives everyone the wrong impression and idea.

Is it purely down to concern for consequences, or is it “rational self-interest” - the idea that you should act in the way that would make you happiest if everyone else acted the same way?

Your reading and interpreting it wrong. He does not “promote” multiple partners in the book - he just says that it should not be something that is looked down upon. He does not promote any type of sexuality - he just says that you should do what feels right for you and gives some expamples. The Satanic Bible says that any form of sexual expression is good - as long as you are not hurting someone against their will. Everything must be done by consenting partners. He says that he is not saying that people should run out and have orgies if they are not comfortable with them, that if a monogomous relationship is what you want - then that’s great. Every form of sexual expression is equal under the Satanic Bible - he does not promote any of them though.

The Satanic Bible is a very good read actually. It was written by Anton LeVey and is a very different thing than most people think it is.

It’s different from Satanism is the fact that Satanist believe in Satan and worship him. LeVayen Satanism - does not believe in Satan, instead he uses Satan as a metephor for all of the carnal desires of man that are usually looked down upon.

I’m actually looking into this particular religion right now because I am fascinated by it and agree with almost everything he says. They believe in an eye for an eye, giving into our carnal desires and not being ashamed of them. He promotes individuality and being yourself.

The essays basically promote selfishness as a way of life, “Selfish” in this case meaning that above all, you should be embracing your own happiness and well-being and not follow the dogma of others in order to find your way. Nowhere in the book does it promote the typical things that you would associate with devil worship, like human sacrifice, animal sacrifice, or promiscuous sex.

the whole point of the satanic bible is to cause athiesm… a satanist doesn’t believe in heaven or hell or even satan. or they do, and they hate you so they don’t want you to believe in it.. causing you to miss your chance at heaven if there is one.

Whoo! I have the satanic bible…it has nothing to do w/ satan. Really all it is, is everything christanity isn’t. dude plentyadvice, chill for just a second, and read this, I will try not to offend you… The asker of this question asked a very honest question, he wanted to know what it was, he did not ask “what is the best way to worship satan” perhaps this person wants to know more about the satanic bible so he can be more prepared to argue against it. I mean you can’t just say something it wrong and convince someone that something is wrong if you don’t know anything about it. I mean maybe this guy has a friend who practices satanism as per anton levey, and they want to be able to point out the contradictions to morality that are in the satanic bible. People are much more willing to listen if the argument is sound. No one will listen to someone who says “this is wrong because it goes against something I’ve been taught to believe.”

There is one author (spiritually inspired to those OPEN enough to have heard the spirit that made everything spiritual and physical. But beside that no other god including satan can offer more, and they certainly are not loving. Beside they are ALL DEAD(NO SPIRIT). However, Jesus Christ who is part of God died so we could have His spirit live inside us. But, that is not possible if we don’t say a simple prayer and humble ourselves under the God who created us. The real reason He came to be like us(live as a man) is so His life could be the attonement for our cruddy sins. So he not only died for us, but He bore all–all–all our horrible, filthy,incredibly horrible sins. However, small or large, He took it all on His one body. So we undeserving people could inherit the kingdom and not pay the bill. THIS IS CHRISTIANITY. Loving a giving, loving God who is alive. WE CHRISTIANS CAN FEEL HIS SPIRIT, HE DOES THINGS FOR US ALL THE TIME. P.S. We don’t have to be perfect. He knows we are not. BUT, WITHOUT SAYING THE SINNERS PRAYER–THE BIBLE SAYS WE ARE NOT-NOT ENTITLED TO ETERNAL LIFE OR A FORGIVEN AND BETTER LIFE HERE. I hope and pray for your sakes not mine, that you check it out. God, Jesus and His Holy Spirit is more real than you give Him credit for. Just ask the loving God in and ask for forgiveness(He wants us to know why Jesus died for us). If we look everywhere else but the place of truth, we get very confused.

I love how this turned into a religious argument about God and there only being one God, when the Satanic Bible has nothing to do with Satan - or any other God for that matter.
