What's the best way to get rid of rats?

We’ve got some of the little buggers in the kitchen, and they’ve been eating rat poison pellets for a week - no joke. ONE OF THEM TOUCHED ME D: how do i remove themmm? Thankee :)

Answer #1

I called my local health dept and they came out and put stuff out that really got rid of them and it was free

Answer #2

Buy those rat sticky trap things. My grandma used them, and they work pretty great. Beware, sometimes the rats will chew their legs off when they get caught, so, there may be a rat leg stuck to the trap. =/

Answer #3

THAT IS SO FCKING DISGUSTING. but thanks very much for your help ;D

Answer #4

I know 0_- and You’re welcome(:

Answer #5

They sell humane rat traps (not sure where in your area) but, I think they are best to get seeing as they don’t harm, or k!ll the rat…they just capture it.

Answer #6

I’m not sure if these will work ‘cause the rat’s an evil genius. I think it’s become humanised (can’t think of the word) and it’s not even scared of running about in broad daylight when we’re standing one foot away from it ! We might give it a go though, thanks :)

Answer #7

Don’t take this the wrong way but how is that humane to do to something? To basically starve it to death, don’t get me wrong I don’t like rats either, I just think u cud have chosen a better word than humane, sorry

Answer #8

You got two “likes” for recommending sticky traps. These are the most inhumane traps to use. The rats or mice get so desperate to escape they chew their own legs off. F-CKING CRUEL WHOEVER LIKED YOUR SUGGESTION.

Answer #9

spread peanut butter along the edges of the doors peanut butter is like a toxin to them if the eat it they will feel a little drunk and it should be enough to get rid of them

Answer #10

Well I did ‘cause it’s a way of getting rid of the little sh.ts that have done things such as chew through the piping of our dishwasher and flooded the whole of downstairs. I’m not asking for humane methods, I’m asking for methods. Humane ones will be our first choice but desperate times….

Answer #11

Uhm, these traps don’t kill them? The idea is that you release the rat somewhere else. The rat is completely unharmed, just relocated :) we used to use them for mice at my mum’s house but then we’d release them back into the woods where they came from. But where I’m living now there isn’t exactly anywhere we can release them, seeing as they’ll just follow back. :/

Answer #12

Samantha, no one asked for your opinion. If you have a better idea to get rid of them, then post it. Don’t comment on mine and start drama. rolls eyes

Answer #13

Try the rat zapper. The rats enter the zapper and the trap gives out an electric shock which kills the rat instantly. The most humane way to kill rodents, blood, no smell and the kill is instant, and that is why RSPCA recommends it.

Answer #14

Well, dont’ give out recommendations that are pretty cruel to rodents. Seriously, using sticky trap to capture rats, come on now. Seriously, this site is becoming a laughing stock, if you think using sticky traps is the way to go, Just google the horrific things owners had to resort to killing the rats because they are stil alive…Either chewing their own legs off or starving to death. Some home owners had to kill the rats themselves to put these rats out of their own misery…NOW YOU TELL NOW IF i’M BEING UNREASONABLE…..animals even though they are pest, should be killed in an humane way.

Answer #15

I’ll give out whatever recommendations I want to. Like I said, don’t cause drama. It’s childish. (:

Answer #16

Ruddy expensive though, I’ll suggest it to the rents :) thankyou

Answer #17

Yeah, is that the only rebuttal? Oh well, if you cannot ague back why sticky traps are good but resort to calling me childish, continue giving out awesome advices. FA needs more of these accurate ideas. Champion !!!

Answer #18

Yes it is expensive doll. About $140 a trap but it can be used constantly. One of our family friends lives on a farm and they use the zappers a lot because the rats loves the chicken’s food. The zapper is powered by four D batterys but apparently their is no mess or blood and you don’t have to see th dead rats. Sorry, I got big hyper, being cruel to animals is one of my pet hate. I’m a volunteer for RSPCA and it makes me cry when I see what people do to animals.

Answer #19

I’d rather not argue with you, it’s below my level. I have better things to do.

Answer #20

Haha, and below your level, but you still are commenting….haha. LOVE IT.

Answer #21

What are you talking about imlonely? They are humane. They don’t harm, or k!ll the rats like other ways that you get rid of rats. The don’t crush them, they don’t poison them, etc… Humane is the correct word.

Answer #22

put a bowl of cornmeal and cement out and the rats will eat it and the cement will harden in the rats belly.
