How can I relieve menstrual cramps?

I get extremely bad cramps when I’m on that time of month. The cramps usually worsen on the second day. Is there a way I can lessen the pain? It gets to the point where I can’t even walk right, get out of bed or do any type of extracurricular activity. I get really grumpy and cranky as well (but I already know that’s PMS). Sometimes I stay home from school just because of the pain. Is this even normal? I feel like all my other girl friends don’t have this problem. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

You can try taking Mikol if it’s really that bad. Also, try warm showers, warm bottle or those warm pads that you heat up in the microwave. Along with that light exercise is known for relieving cramps. Eat things with lots of potassium like bananas. If it’s really that bad though, perhaps go to your doctor see if they can prescribe you with a birth control, those usually lighten and shorten your period while easing the cramping.

It’s the same for me as well as a lot of other girls. I’m in tears for days and can’t leave the house. The best you can do is take a warm bath, rest with a hot water bottle and take pain meds. I wouldn’t suggest birth control.. They don’t “usually” do anything in particular, the side effects are different for everyone. Taking them might even make your cramps worse! Don’t use them if it’s not nessesary. :)

Raspberry leaf tea (leaf, NOT fruit). Its amazing - its a smooth muscle relaxant which acts on the uterine walls and relieves cramping. However, I would talk to a doctor too, because excessive menstrual pain can be indicative of a more serious problem.

I had te same problem :( What I did was use heating pads, even when I sleep, and ibruprofen. I wouldn’t take midol because it has caffeine. drinking plenty water is good so you flush everything out. Eventually that wasn’t enough for me so my mom took me to get birth control. My periods are lighter and my cramps are mild. And just to answer your question, that is very normal, and there are plenty of girls who have it way worse.

Midol.
