If I want to do refugee work in 3rd world countries, should I join the navy, army, or police force?
I want to do volunteer work helping 3rd world countries by taking food and building wells and homes etc. I have always thought that joining the police force would give me a better chance at this goal but today a friend suggested the army or the navy. Has anybody here had experience with either of these? Also what option do you think would help me more? Thanks heaps :)
I’m not sure exactly, it’s different from nation to nation. Of those three likely the Navy, but see if your country has a peace corps, that might be more up your alley.
I typed out a whole thing about the peace corps and realized it had already been said so now i delete everything i wrote and just agree with them :)
No. With humanity volunteer work, you can basically help out in any 3rd world countries without any issues. Of course, if you are a doctor or nurse, it would be great as your service would be needed the most. Some 3rd year medical students as part of their Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery units, are required to either go overseas for 2 months or in the country (outback Australia) and do their pract there. Some of course select 3rd world countries as they know they can be more hands on without regulations and limits………You can always contact Red Cross or World Vision and ask them for details about their humanity volunteer programs….Both these non-profit organisations really go out of the way to help the less fortunate but also do bare in mind, you do go over there at your own risk, they do look after you the best they can, but there are some risk involved unfortunately.
Thanks to all of you :)
