Reason for being saved?

What’s the reason for being saved? I don’t understand anything about being saved since I’m not a member of any church that talks about being saved. I’m LDS.

Answer #1

For me it’s to be able to answer this question: ‘If you died right now at that keyboard, do you know where you would spend eternity ? - for me, most definitely, Yes - my understanding: God being pure cannot even look upon sin - man, even in his very best state is a sinner - on judgement day, either: your sins are covered by the blood-shed sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross (salvation and only salvation - being a nice person isn’t good enough - even at our very best, we are but filthy rags), and remembered no more or they are not (your sins are not covered) - where God’s great love comes into play is, He provided a WAY (Jesus) for us not to perish and live in Heaven with Him (He certainly didn’t have to do this but did because He loved us so) - if you read carefully John 3:16, this is exactly what it says - each person will either accept or reject, you must decide for yourself and yes, it’s so important, it has eternal consequences - He Loves you and wants you to accept God’s free gift to man - Jesus…Hope this helps !!

Amblessed, You KNOW nothing. You believe it, but you can not know it. Existence of a diety is unknowable. That is why it is called faith, and not reality.

Answer #3

god died on the cross for us and sowe can have redemption so we don’t go to hell and when you feel you don’t have nobody he’s there even if you can’t see him he don’t judge you like everyone else and all he wants is us to be saved so we can meet him one day in heaven and the words I’ve been waiting for you. read john 3:16 and acts 2:38

Answer #4

Jesus died on the cross that we might be saved.. I believe that salvation is more than just asking Jesus into your heart as in the books of acts on the day of pentecost where they were all gathered in the upper room. I personally believe in Baptism in Jesus’ name, being filled with the Holy Ghost w/ the evidence of speaking in tongues.

We are all sinners and come short of the Glory of God. He is the only one that is perfect.

Answer #5

So if you live a good life, never commit any so-called sins, but while alive you just couldn’t bring yourself to believe in something as unknowable as a diety , you will be denied salvation. That sounds like a real loving god you have there…

Answer #6

If a person isn’t saved he won’t go to heaven. The way a person is saved is by giving their hearts to God, asking His forgivness, and asking Jesus to be their Saviour. If we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us.

Jesus is the Door thru all who enter heaven must pass…

Good answer!!!

Answer #8

That is a very awesome question, indeed.

LDS, claims to be Christian.

But, you say, they do not teach salvation, thru Christ.

This is the basis for Christianity.

Do you mind to tell us what they do teach, if not salvation.

I believe that they do not believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, is this right?

Answer #9

Thats a really good question and the first answer is the best one for you

Answer #10

Wow! Great question. Christian teaching (which I believe) is that humans cannot come close to God through their own work. We’re sinful and, even when we try to be good and even with people who truly are kind and loving etc, we can never match God’s perfection. This stops us from having a close relationship with God now, and also from being with Him in Heaven.

We believe that Jesus died to save us. This means He took our sins onto himself, when He was crucified, and He took the puniushment for us. Anyone who confesses their need for salvation (by admitting that they’re a sinner) and accepts Jesus as Lord, is now no longer judged by their own sins, but instead by Jesus’ perfect sacrifice.

So when God looks at me, He sees the real me with my faults, but it’s all through the ‘lens’, if you like, of perfection given to me by Jesus. Same for all other Christians. It’s a wonderful gift, to be looked on as ‘perfect’ by someone who knows everything about you but still loves you! Only Jesus could give us that gift.

And the gift is called Salvation, and accepting Jesus is therefore called ‘being saved’. We’re saved for Heaven, saved from Hell, and saved for a relationship with God right now.

Does any of that ‘click’ with your own knowledge of the Bible and God?
