questions about the bible, religion, and God.

my family is christian but I dont ever really go to church and even when I do it doesnt change anythign, no one really has an answer and when I ask my question about the dinosaur thing (see below) they just say ‘well the bible mentions large animals” and whatnot.

I start overthinking things like: if the bible is true, then why doesnt it ever talk about dinosaurs? or caveman? or anything that was here billions of years before adam and eve?

and no one seems to really have the exact and 100% correct answer with no loopholes, and im the type of person that like needs to have the answer, not just have a moderatly okayish, just a little bit believable kind of answer.

and stuff like: buddists and other religions probably believe in their faith just as strongly as christians and christians say that they are wrong and completly wrong when they are thinking the same thing about christians, and wondering “who are they to tell us we are wrong when they are way off?” seriously, it would be like them saying to a christian “give up your religion, it’s stupid and FAKE! it’s all a lie!” and vis-versa. how do you know that the faith you believe in is not the wrong one?

and then how alll the people that believe in Him (god) and trust in him go to heaven, well does that mean that all of the people that grown up in places that have never even heard of him in their whole lifes go to H#ll, even when it’s not their fault? od they just get a free-bee into heaven or what?

it;s also really hard to think that you are praying to a..a…a spirit thing thats like superatural that you cant see and it’s this big glowing ball of spirit thingy or whatever that made everything in existance and it’s ont a person, and the trinity thing, that this spirit is 3 things, but the same thing and the father of itself and it’s son or whatever. (like god is the father of jesus, but jesus us like part of god in the trinity,) I proabbly got some of that wrong but that just go to show how confused about everything I am.

and how canso many people that believe in different religions be WRONG. that would mean that a whooole bunch of people are going to have eternal da*nation. is that right? how could so many people actually be wrong?

and where IS heaven anyway, the sky, somewhere out in the universe? a supernatural thing that your soul goes to when you die if you have been good?

I really want to believe in the christian faith, but it’s just hard to face all of these questions head on and then decide just to put them away and never rethink anything and just say “FORGET IT, JUST BELIEVE AND DONT THINK!”

does anyone understand what im talking about? and I hate asking this question, I feel so stupid.

Hi, I’ve been a christian for aproximately 30 years. I want to know if anyone has ever told you that God loves you. Yes, you!!! Even scientists have agreed that God is the only answer. From the internal world(our inner workings in our human bodies) to the outer galaxies. The working of everything is actually too precise and designed to have been from a chance evolution. For us,to have become an intricate human form from an eniba (one cell) it would now have been possible even in the time allowed. Impossible. Now, lets pose this question. If Christ who really did exist, according to the historians, was really Gods son here on earth to take our place on the cross and to die for our sins and our sicknesses, then just if—it is true isn’t it worth believing. If according to bible, if we say (the sinners prayer) we will receive a free gift (eternal life and forgiveness of our sins) What do we have to lose. Nothing and everything to gain. A better unbeilievale life here on earth and a true promise of eternal life. The holy spirit (a good friend–who never makes you do anything you don’t want to do) You’ll also, get what the bible says is life forever. Heaven according to the bible is everything good you could imagine and our bodies will be like Jesus is strong and lives forever. What could it hurt to say the sinners prayer: Dear father I recognize I am a sinner, for all have sinned. I believe Jesus your son died on the cross for my sins. I ask Jesus to come into my heart and my life and help me live. Thank you for your gift of eternal life. I am born in an eternal way now. I’m free from the control of the devil. Thank you. Now I know I need to go to a bible believing church and learn more about you. Just say this prayer and I know God will prove to you that he exists and loves you. When you truly have the infilling of the holy spirit, you should feel pretty elated (good). If you have ever drank or did drugs, Gods spirit feels so much better than that or anything. You don’t have anything to lose. I didn’t, but the torment I had accumulated. He took that too! God Bless you! (I’m someone who partied, and partied not a prude.) Most christians I know were partiers not uncool people. It’s a whole new world.

“you musnt think aboutGod you must believe in him “ask and you will resieve” talk to God …it doesent matter what you do if you go to church or you dont,if you read your bible or not the one thing tou shoul forget is tha he died for us and you should say thank you for that and you must ask God to forgive your sins…- blah blah blah” Will probaby be the kind answer you’ll get from all(or most) believers.

But, realy, it’s great that some people actually have enough brains(forgive me if that sounded rude) to question their religion, and not simply believe in everything they are told, which, when given a thought, is clrealy not right. And, realy, when you look at all those religions, and see all of them claiming to be the “right one”, it’s only natural to doubt them. There is simply no way that all(if not any) of them can be right. That about eternal torchure in hell… is in case christianity is right. And it’s funny how they claim god to be “just” and “loving” and so on, when he send people to hell. Not that he is “all knowing”, which means he allready knew what was going to happen when he created Adam and Eve.

It’s actually good that you are asking these questions. You, at least, seem to understand that all of this simply can not be right, instead of blindly following evrything those people say. And, as baldwinwolf allready said, “they don’t want you to think. because thinking exposes the cracks, and it means that the brainwashing didn’t take.”

I’d suggest you become an atheist. Or agnostic, if you realy want to believe in god. Tho I’m not the one to tell you what to believe in. Believe what you want, but don’t base your belief on nothing. But, realy, seeing all these facts that simply don’t fit with what bible says, it’s pretty hard to understand(for me, at least) why so many people believe in it.

Hope this helped.

dont feel stupid, I’ve asked the same questions. first dinosaurs were in the bible just under a different name. dragons, beast and whatnot. and dinosaurs existed a long with adam and eve. If you are a christian you cant try to fit science and the bible together it doesn’t happen. I absolutely do not believe in evolution because it doesn’t make sense, if we came from apes, why are there still apes. there is no proof. people say the same about christianity, but it isn’t about proof, its about faith, the earth is around 6000 years old. that is what I believe because that is what the bible shows to be true. the bible never said anything about us coming from apes. that is what science has said, with no proof. its just theory. Just ask God to let your faith arise. that is about the only thing you can do if you want to believe.

Answer #4

Congratulations: You’re a skeptic! Science is founded on skepticism - if you don’t ask awkward questions, if you take the status quo for granted, you never make any progress at all. Welcome to the proud tradition that’s brought us every innovation from the wheel onwards.

Many otherwise inquisitive people deliberately turn off their skeptical faculties when thinking about religion, or even actively promote not thinking too hard about it. I think that’s entirely the wrong idea: Everything in life can be approached from a logical standpoint, belief (or lack thereof) in an afterlife included. I think you’ll find that when you do, you’ll realise that the only logical position is agnosticism or atheism: In the absence of any evidence for a creator, it makes the most sense to assume there probably isn’t one.

Answer #5

* if the bible is true, then why doesnt it ever talk about dinosaurs? or caveman? or anything that was here billions of years before adam and eve?

The Bible isn’t true. It’s just a collection of ancient religious writings, like so many others.

Answer #6

Those who don’t believe in God are stupid bitter people who just want a guiltless life of doing what they please. They are very stupid and childish people.

Answer #7

Even scientists have agreed that God is the only answer.

…bearing false witness now? Deception? You’ll make Jesus cry. Go pray… NOW.

Answer #8

“Even scientists have agreed that God is the only answer.”

Er, no they haven’t. I’m sure you could find two religious people who happen to be scientists who would say that, but that doesn’t qualify as “scientists have agreed”.

“The working of everything is actually too precise and designed to have been from a chance evolution. For us,to have become an intricate human form from an eniba (one cell) it would now have been possible even in the time allowed. “

It’s not only possible, it’s the only plausible explanation. And even if it wasn’t, how would it prove your religion is accurate, as opposed to all the other ones?

Also, if you’re going to cut-and-paste something someone else wrote, you could at least fix the line breaks and acknowledge the original author.

Answer #9

God can answer all your questions, if you seek him with a sincere heart.

I had lots of questions too, when I first came to the Lord, and my first bible is marked thru and thru, as the answers came, I marked them in my bible, for future reference, however, it turned out once the answer came to my spirit, I didn’t need to look it up again.,

Answer #10

“one more thing, what is einstiens theory on quantum physics?”

No such thing. Einstein developed the special and general theories of relativity. Quantum physics came later. While it’s true that one interpretation of quantum physics permits the “many worlds” hypothesis, there’s no evidence it’s correct, and it certainly doesn’t imply any of the things people like to assign to it, like ‘contacting alternate dimensions’, intent (‘everything happens somewhere’), etc.

Answer #11

Well your starting to think with reason. The thing is religion doesn’t have an answer that makes sense. Your right they want you to believe and not question it. Blind faith. A lot of them will say faith is a good thing. I have faith in my wife to remain faithful cause she always has. I have faith in my father to do the right thing cause he always has. I have no faith in God cause he can’t even prove himself without faith.

There are other religions that believe they are the right way. Still others aren’t as judgemental.

Don’t let them tell you your wrong for questioning these things. Think about it. If you have to put away these questions and not apply reasoning to believe is it really worth your faith?

Answer #12

I understand exactly what you’re talking about, and you should not feel stupid for asking these kinds of questions. They are all good ones, and I think you should continue searching for answers to them. I went through a similar phase when I was an evangelical Christian. My search for answers eventually led me to a different, more liberal brand of Christianity, then to agnosticism, and eventually to becoming an atheist and skeptic.

If you tell yourself to just have faith, ignore these questions, and live in fear of doubting your beliefs, you will never have peace of mind. The only way to have peace of mind is to take away all barriers to seeking the truth, even if the truth contradicts what you had previously believed.

Answer #13

Basicly that there’s an infinite number of dimensions out there. Basicly anything can be reality, thus there’s plenty of space for heaven and hell, per se.

And I also believe in planes, dimensions within dimensions, which could explain certain phenomena such as out of body experiences, spirits(like the possessing ones spoken of in the Bible), ect. So don’t think you’re the only one sitting at that computer.

Answer #14

thanks people. and to the people that say just ask god; well I cant, because I dont know if he is real. but still thanks though.

I don’t know why, I just cany believe something unless it all fits together. and science about dinasours and such can be proved, yet god cant. see my predicament.

for me, it’s like trying to believe in santa claus.

Answer #15

Well, good for you. You have a brain. Looking through the curtains, thinking for yourself, not going off of what others tell you.

I think our Father, through his son, Jesus Christ, intends and has provided a way to save EVERYONE. I’m not saying everyone is going to heaven, but the intention is there. I don’t believe in a few who were chosen before they were even born. I mean, let’s say you had ten kids, and could only choose one who was going to live into adulthood. Is that right on any level, physical or divine?

And heaven and hell? Well, I like to apply science to my relegion. Look up Einsteins theories on quantum physics. Might help you out a little.

Answer #16

Those who don’t believe in God are stupid bitter people who just want a guiltless life of doing what they please. They are very stupid and childish people. Look at the bitterness in there answers. Plus they posted dumb posts as if Christians posted them in an attempt to make Christians look dumb. I am one Christian these wanna be so called free thinkers would hate to talk to.

Answer #17

you musnt think aboutGod you must believe in him “ask and you will resieve” talk to God …it doesent matter what you do if you go to church or you dont,if you read your bible or not the one thing tou shoul forget is tha he died for us and you should say thank you for that and you must ask God to forgive your sins…there is a heaven and you should believe in God and Jesus he woke up from the dead and returned to his Fater(God)

Answer #18

yes- they don’t want you to think. because thinking exposes the cracks, and it means that the brainwashing didn’t take.

I was where you are when I was around 15- what I saw when I took a good hard look at organized religion couldn’t be written off by the ‘faith’ word. I chose to throw the blinders aside, and find my own path that makes sense ( which I ultimately did).

decide what you want to believe, and follow that- but don’t follow what someone tells you is the truth, or what the community is doing. you have a mind- use it to find your path.

Answer #19

one more thing, what is einstiens theory on quantum physics? I need a simple explanation, not a huge scientific one.
