How can I get our puppy to come inside?

We recently purchased a puppy from a farm . He was born and raised in a barn, The first night we had him home he sat by door and cried to go outside. Once outside he was happy but I can’t with good conscious let him sleep outside. What can I do?

Answer #1

Maybe you could make him a wire enclosure to set outside on the porch - that way he’s outside (happy) and controlled where you can peek out the window and see he’s ok (peace of mind)..Good luck !!

Answer #2

I agree with the others.

You can tie him up, fence him in, and get him a doghouse.

You can also make him stay in. He might whine and fuss at first, but he should get used to it eventually.

Answer #3

What if you bought him a dog house? Would that be alright? Otherwise, just let him sleep in the house, let him whine. He’ll learn that being outside is not where he sleeps. Puppies learn quickly. It’ll be a hassle at first, but he will learn.
