Can I get pregnant even though I use a condom?

Can I get pregnant even though I use a condom? Everytime we have sex we use a condom, but I still feel uneasy, and I usualluycount down the days until my period. I know that condoms are 80-95% effective. I don’t use the pill, and we have sex frequently. I need to know the answer because my anxiety about this is hindering me from fulling enjoying the experience. Please help.

Condoms are 97%+ effective if used properly. In part that means that the pens doesn’t even touch the vagia unless covered. Get the morning after pill BEFORE you need it and keep it on hand. (It is 85% effective if taken right away - 75% effective if taken up to 3 days after.) No prescription is needed but you may have to be 18 to get it. Or have a friend get it for you. Or planned parenthood. Hotchick is right about age and heat causing some condom failures.

If hormonal birth control is out (it is 99.4% effective) there are also IUD’s which are now safe and are very effective, but they require a doctor to put them in. They are effective for 5-10 years. You might be able to get one through Planned Parenthood if you can’t (or won’t) get one from your family doctor.

Finally, now that you are sexually active, you need to see an OB/GYN to get a pap smear and exam. Get that through your choice of doctor, a clinic, or Planned Parenthood (1322 NW Federal Hwy Stuart, FL 34994 (772)692-2023 ‎)

p.s. the only thing effective against STD’s is a condom, and even that is not completely effective all the time.

Well if you have no signs of pregnancy then your probably not…its probably just your nerves messing with u…if you are so worried I would suggest getting on the pill plus using condoms…better safe than sorry

Answer #3

You can help prevent faulty condoms by buying them like right before you use them and not using like month or year old condoms…plus dont leave them near something hot or out in a car that can make them more easily to break

Answer #4

if there has a leak… it is possible to get into pregnant?

Answer #5

I can’t go on BC because of the health risks. So that doesn’t help, I want to know how I could possibly get pregnant. Can a condom leak out of the sides? How do you know you have a faulty condom?

Answer #8

Actually condoms are 98-99% effective not 80-98% effective as long as it’s within it’s self-life. There is the chance of the condom breaking and so you could check the condom after sex each time but most people feel the condom breaking if it does do this. And if you find that it has broken you could go to your doctors to get the morning after pill up to 72hours after sex. I would suggest getting a trusted condom brand like durex. They do around 4 tests to check the safety of their condoms which is quite a lot. NEVER use two condoms (I’m not saying your going to-just to make sure you don’t) as when they rub together they are more likely to rip each other. You could go for something like IUD. Here is some information for you on IUD: http://www.ewtn.com/library/MARRIAGE/CCLIUD.TXT Or you could use a spermicide with condoms but it would mean you’d have to put it in about 10minutes before sex and would not be able to wash (or wash your vagina at least) for about to 6-8hours after sex. But you can get it WITHOUT a prescription and all other birth control devices you will need a prescription(apart from condoms obviously!). If you want more information on any of the birth control devices you could try a google search Hope this helped x

Answer #9

No, it doesnt leak, if the condom breaks, or there’s a hole it in (sometimes not visible) then you have a problem. The odds are very low of getting pregnant while using the condom, it’s like 99% effective… I really wouldnt worry about it… If it is still bothering you, use a spermicide, and maybe another barrier method (cervical cap)

Answer #10

Yes, you can still get pregnant, go on birth control, you can get it cheap and usually without parent permission at a Planned Parenthood. Also you can get him to take really really hot baths to hinder him from creating sperm. No worries, it isn’t permanent, get him to do it once or twice a month. If the condom breaks or anything like that take the morning after pill.
