Poor credit score. Need credit card. Any help?

I need/want a credit card but I haven’t been able to acquire one b/c of poor past credit. Yet one reason score is low is b/c I don’t have a credit card.. Go figure. Any advice or does anyone know a good place to go for a card?

What you need is a secured credit card (google it), but make sure that it is from a reputable bank. You get one of those by sending them money - that is why you want a good bank - that they hold as collateral. Typically you send them like $200.00 and they will issue a credit card with a limit of $200, which they may raise to 300 or 400 after a while. If you have an account in a Credit Union, they might be your best bet.

After a year or two you can then get an unsecured card — IF you have been very responsible with all of your debts.
