Why is my stool really dark?

If your stool is dark black and kind of looks like coffee grounds… Go to your folks it could be internal bleeding. It sounds gross but its nothing to get crazy about as long as you can talk to your folks and seek medical attention.

Have you been taking an iron supplement lately? That can make stools dark. The body gets rid of excessive iron but it can get constipated too - an aside – this is the biggest problem for pregnant women who are given massive iron supplements :)

Please don’t be worried. You need to talk to a doctor or nurse after you’ve talked with your Mom. It could be blood in your stool.

About the constipation, it could be too much chocolate or not drinking enough water. If you eat an apple or two each day (apples have lots of fiber) eat some cereal with fiber, and drink at least two liters of water, stop eating sugar, you should be fine.
