If it is dark black and sort or tar like with a weird ‘sickly sweet’ sort of smell it could indicate a bleed in the stomach as the blood is old and digested by the time you pass it.
If it is bright red, it can indicate a bleed in your intestines as the blood is fresher/newer and has not been digested in the stomach.
Either way, please get checked out with a doctor. They will generally give you a small pot and ask you to take in a sample.
Whatever it may be, the the odds are that it is more than likely to be harmless, the quicker you get checked out the better.
Even if it is just to give you peace of mind.
