Why do some people say "pacific" instead of "specific", and no matter how much you tell them it's incorrect they refuse to believe you and say it correctly?

Answer #1

that’s probably just them being stubborn. also, some people have harder times pronouncing certain words, so maybe that’s why.. who knows!

Answer #2

Its basically because we get so in the habbit of saying it that its a short cut word. Like Sandwich, I know I am guilty of not pronouncing the D. Even sometimes going as far as saying SAMMICH. Its just partial lazyness/convienance and probably part habbit

Answer #3

They cud have a speech delay?

Answer #4

I have to agree. A lot of time those that have a hard time pronouncing words like that are also those that have a case of dyslexia. Sometimes the brain works faster then it can send the message weather it is to the hand while trying to type, to speak or to sound things out. Of course s lot of people say they are just being lazy, it’s really not because of that. I would see a neurologist it’s better to be safe then sorry. Btw, Einstein had dyslexia so dont think god forbid that you may be stupid if you might be diagnosed with it! I have it, and I am just fine…so occasionally I find myself typing “cna” instead of “can” and “teh” instead of “the”. Yes, It can be merely a case of typo’s, but when you find yourself with speech issues at one point of time, issues with comprehension or find yourself having difficulty in subjects hat require you to write essays, but are fine with spelling or math…then you need to find out what the deal is. Dont be ashamed or afraid to admit it…you can get benefits like more time on quiz’s & tests or even do them verbally instead of writing. You dont hv to suffer if you do. Do the right thing for yourself.(meaning those that think they just might find some issues I mentioned.)

Answer #7

That frustrates the crap out of me. But when people say ax instead of ask, I go insane of the inside.

Answer #8

may have a lisp, or a confusion between the two. I used to say that too. Sometimes it is hard to distinguish between what you think you are saying, and what you really are saying. Probably a old habit, just like biting nails.

Answer #9

Answer #10

Matt you know you love it when i do…:P As for typo’s…dyslexia remember…also typing with long nails & too quick. :P

Answer #11

i have that problem i say it wrong everytime! it was pointed out to me once to often by someone who was being deliberately offensive and i became so self concious thereafter i stopped using the word completely! i dont think it matters if people pronounce words wrong, sometimes it can be quite funny especially when children do it.
