Why do people easily believe in lies rather than the truth?

Answer #1

Because its easier.

Answer #2

Lies are what you want to hear.. the truth is not. The truth can hurt. But also the truth can set you free, if you want to be set free. But first comes the heartache. Some people dont want to deal with that.

Answer #3

Lies are often designed to be more pleasant to the ear, kinder. It’s easier to believe something kinder than have to deal with something that will cause hardships an negativity.

Answer #4

Most people believe in what they think and/or hope is the truth. The lie is usually what they want to hear. Sometimes we want to believe a lie if the truth hurts us. Or sometimes the truth is too strange to believe; the lie seems to make more sense. On the other hand, most people don’t call out every lie they hear. So, one might assume that a person is believing in a lie, but they really aren’t; they’re just not calling the person out for whatever reason. Also some people don’t get the point in lying, so they don’t automatically assume other people are. Especially when it’s something ridiculous, like “did you hear about” or “she said that”. It’s kind of like alright, must be telling the truth, only an idiot would make that up, right? Haha. Hmm. Perhaps the people believing in these lies are just gullible or oblivious or delusional, who knows. Some people are good at lying. There are a bunch of different factors as to why a person would believe (or supposedly believe) in a lie. Really, it just depends on the lie, the situation, and the people involved. (I hate saying generalized things like that, but I think that’s what it all comes down to.)

Answer #5
