Why do people blame God for everything that's bad, but yet when something good comes their way it has to be from God?

It’s always good to have someone to blame. And for religious people that is very easy :)

I guess…and since he is our Heavenly Father imagine how hurt my dad would be if i blamed him for every bad thing that ever happened to me!!

STOP THE BLAME PEOPLE!!

If they don’t have anyone else to blame, they blame God, and the last person that person wants to blame is himself. And some poeple just don’t understand that the bad things aren’t punishments from God, the bad things in life happen because there’s sin in the world, and it’s not God’s fault that there’s sin. It’s Adam and Eve, humans.

Because God has made a clear statement that everything is His hand LOL

I must disagree!! When Eve ate that fruit who was to blame? God?! No…It was the serpent who tempted her and she, having FREE WILL, made a decision to take that bite and disobey God…

Try and understand…not blame God all the time!!

Because its easier to blame God then themselves and God would’nt talk back as humans will.

But God does speak…and yes, I guess people are fooled into thinking God is just some guy up in the clouds not listening to us “mere mortals” BUT HE DOES….He hears our every word and watches over us when we sleep and his only wish is for us to be with him in heaven one day!!

I do not know if He ever said that anyway, but these old people before me told me that everything in this universe is God’s creation, He knows it all…blah..blah… you know what I mean LOL

because if you beleive in god, its him/her/it thats also creating the bad things as well as the good. people need soemthing to blame and thank. if they dont find that in themselves or in other people, they do it with a god

To answer your question where does it say that…. well all throughout the bible, but The first chapter of Genesis it talks about God creating everything, then in 1 John 3:20 it says God knows everything….. so he is the author of our lives…. therefore in total control…. however there is a debate in if you are for free will or predestination.

why is it people ask questions just to shove a religion down other’s throats?

if you are unhappy because people blame god for the bad things as well as the good things that is your problem, YOU should try and understand and not defend god against everything

Ok I’m a bit nervous about saying this, but to Informer_220…. though I agree with Cherish and Lucifer was not a fail on God’s part…. I to throw out an idea (just food for thought)… Have you ever thought of the importance of sin or Lucifer in our recognition of who God is? How do we know what light is, we first have to experience darkness to know what light is. If all there was was good, how can we know what bad is…. Same for hot and cold, pleasure and pain… Basically you can’t know one without knowing the other. Well maybe a good thing about sin is that it shows us what goodness is. And us sinned, shows us why we need God in our lives. I don’t want to argue the whole necessity of sin topic. I just want to say that everything works out for the glory of God…. Maybe sin is a way God uses Lucifer to further the population in heaven.

Why do people….” - I must now ask you “Why do you generalize?” People is a pretty broad term. You may as well have said “Why do black people love watermelon?” or “Why are all Irish people drunk all the time?

So what if we have sin in the world? God made us with freewill which is just 1 of the cool things about him. Thats why when we mess up he forgives and forgets it all..

I think she is more asking why do the people that do, do it do what they do?

I honestly never heard anyone say something like its god when something bad happens or however you put it .. I only heard people say it must be from god when its good , although I have heard people say its the devil when bad things happen in your life O.O

@Informer220 sin came because Adam & Eve so the only people you have to blame is man himself , God didn’t make sin Satan tempted ALL of us to do bad things , God knew it was going to happen , God can come and stop EVERY bad thing he could make choices for us as if we were his little puppets , but if you think about it .. what kind of God would he be if he made all our choices? he lets sin run because we can chose to go the good or bad way , does that mean if we chose to go good we won’t make a mistake or a sin? No because nobody is perfect and god will forgive for that .. & honestly I never heard anyone blame God , but I heard people blame the devil , when to be honest sometimes we do thing that the devil HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH … like oh I feel like breaking this vase , ,,, sorry mom the devil tempted me .. uhh no the devil didn’t … so seriously everyone needs to stop blaming & good things will come to them from God .. plus didn’t you know that the 2 sin made was denying your fault ? when Eve told god the serpent tempted me & when Adam told God Eve ate it and offered me some so I ate it too - stop denying , & I’m not saying I don’t deny things , I do blame it on other people too , but I never blame it on God - nor the devil unless I truly know its Satans fault- :)

God sees all and yes, he knows our future but FREE WILL he can not change and if he had his way Evil would not exist and we would ALL GO TO HEAVEN because he wants us all to be there BUT…He wants us to love him and reach out to him and TO MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS!! FREE WILL is real but yes, God does intervene when he is needed and he does protect his children!!

Ok God made sin if you wanna run with that…… he also created forgiveness, and the ability to make a choice to sin. If you give him credit for creating sin, give him credit for deliverence from sin. Sooo argument valid.

And God doesn’t make us sin if he created free will.

The story of adam and eve is allegorical. Science has proven that we evolved from earlier life forms. We did not all descend from 2 people.

Well since there is no god, I would certainly never blame or credit a fictional being for anything. But those that do believe in the supernatural seem to feel that their god is responsible for everything, including the bad things. And some try and explain the bad things away with some nonsense that we as humans can’t understand a god’s purposes. That is just a little too convenient for me to buy.

Hey I was thinking , people don’t blame God like if they do something bad like Oh its God fault no but I do know that people including me believe that God punishes us , he does punish us , and usually we should get the message … God just punished me with the biggest scare I had in my life I was screaming and crying & every thing is alright now :) but as soon as what happened to me happened I knew right off the back that it was a punishment from God and WHY he was giving me the punishment so I knew the reason … BUT that is not blaming God its like if you do something you are not suppose to do at your house and your parents hit you or ground you or whatever thats a punishment and a punishment is something you CANT blame others for its like it makes no sense I blame this person for punishing me like what are you blaming them for what did they do but try to put some sense into your head so you don’t do it again ?!?! ((=

• and I’m not angry that God punished me because I know I deserved it and I also had to thank him from part of that scare he gave me (it makes a lot more sense if you knew what happened LoL)

Yes, sometimes God does let us learn our lessons the hard way but he would never hurt us !!

jimahl, I hate that concept that sin is man-made. Mainly because the concept of good and evil is just open for interpretation depending on the person. Personally I like to think there is a black and white which can’t be held by man.

@ Bryson ~ that’s so true but also God did not create SIN and the term came about mainly through “Adam and Eve” so to some extent man did sin in the world BUT Lucifer (Satan) is EVIL and is the author of everything evil I believe…

I belive that God takes full responsibility for us on earth. thats why He sent His Son Jesus to die for our sins so that whosoever chooses to accept it can have eternal life. However we still cant blame God for all teh evil. becasue satan exist and he he does a lot of evil. plus as humans we also have to face teh consequences of our own sins.

in my opinion i think they blame God because they can’t take the responsibility themselves so they have to blame somebody else

we did descend from Adam and Eve. True Adam and Eve were two people but they had 56 children. Those children intermarried and had children and they had children and so forth. Besides back then people lived a lot longer than we do today so they were able to have more kids. nothing is impossible with God

I know you didn’t, but you said people can’t take responsibility for bad things that happen. Japan was a tragedy that some would blame god for. So who would take responsibility for it? Wouldn’t it be god, since he could have prevented it?

The question is why do people blame god for bad things. Japan is just a most recent example of a bad thing. I for one do not believe in deities, and I do not believe a god was responsible. I am merely suggesting that if a god is omnipotent, he could have prevented this bad thing. And inaction to stop something bad happening does make someone responsible for letting it happen. If you saw someone about to step in front of a truck and all you had to do was to put your arm to save them. Wouldn’t you be responsible if you didn’t put your arm out?

Gods ways aren’t our ways. When He lets something happen it’s usually for a reason even if we don’t know what that reason is

Ok, if that is what you believe. But it doesn’t change the fact that your god would still be responsible, which is what the question asked. For the life of me, I can’t possibly see how letting thousands of people die, and millions lose everything they have could ever possibly be a good thing.

then let me say this. In the Bible there is a man named Job. He was wealthy, had a family,friends, everything. One day Satan went up to Heaven and made a deal with God. He wanted to test Jobs faith in God by ruining his life. God agreed but wanted Satan to know that he just couldn’t kill Job. So he agreed. Soon after that everything in Jobs life was turning upside down. His family died, he lost his animals, and his friends wanted him to curse God. However, Job kept his faith in God because he realized God does things His way which we may not understand. Because Job kept his faith in God He(God) gave him twice as much as he had before. He was granted with 14 thousand sheep, 6 thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand donkeys, and God gave him a new family. His daughters were said to be the most beautiful in all the land. Job lived 140 years. He saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. When you said you couldn’t see how millions of people die could be a good thing, well true death isn’t a good thing. But look at Job he lost those dear to him and yes God let it happen, but that’s because he was testing his faith, and because he kept his faith God gave him something greater

So in order to test Job, he let his family get killed? Please explain to me how you can call that the actions of a loving god? Do you think the people of Japan are being tested? If so, for what? Most of them aren’t even christians…

Like I said in the end God blessed Job because he kept his faith. He gave him twice as much as he had before. God wants us to have faith in Him and to trust Him even though it may be hard for us

I’m not ignoring that. that was part of the test. To see how Job would react and if he would curse God or not. It says his family sinned a lot and everyday Job would go out and ask God to forgive them and he would always sacrifice an animal for each person. His wife even told him he should curse God. So they weren’t exactly innocent

Yes, but isn’t the goal to for it to be later rather than sooner? They are not equal. I am pretty sure people prefer live rather than die. Did Job’s family get a choice about whether they had to die to test Job? Did they deserve to die sooner just because of they spoke badly about god? Does all this really make sense to you?

yea people would rather live than die but nothing in life is ever garanteed not even our last breath. And they didn’t die because they spoke negative it was because satan wanted to kill them so he did. And yes the story makes sense to me
