How many people think in America really messed up and we should just give it back to the Indians?

Only one condition…. all citizens are allowed to remain and the rest is entirely up to you to figure out how to fix.

Answer #1

If all citizens are allowed to remain then what would be the point? You might as well just have an Native American elected as President. I doubt it would make much difference either way as the USA is far too modernised - if I’m understanding what you mean correctly, it would mean a step-back from the technological reliance and a move towards embracing the basics in life etc.

Answer #2

No I did not mean an elected president with a government as it stands today. But one restructured by Indian Standards. The what if’s of how our society would change and how it would be perceived/received by other countries. Particularly those that distrust our Government the most. Would we be better off, worse, or would nothing really change?

Answer #3

Things would be more peaceful if we worshiped nature instead of money

Answer #4

True but would our country then win over other countries to focus on same?

Answer #5

In theory the country would be better off, it would just be a matter of sticking to it. America is also probably considered the most powerful country in the world so if these standards were upheld then perhaps other governments would adopt them?

It actually does sound like quite a nice idea ^_^.

Answer #6

I think it would lead to a hell of a lot of chaos and anarchy if anyone actually tried “giving back” that country to the native Americans. Because there would be people who defend the status quo and it would surely lead to a lot of quarrel.

Besides, I’m not sure whether the native Americans would actually want that country back with all the current citizens in it and having to look after all their problems. I wouldn’t take it, if anyone offered it to me.

But maybe some people in USA could improve themselves if they learned some things from the natives.

Answer #7

Giving Indians back to their “native land” wouldn’t hardly change a thing. even if you replaced the whole government with native americans, people still have their own ideas. You couldn’t force people to think differently and “go back to the earth” and such like the Indians did a long time ago. It would take hundreds of years to even get the earth back to that state, and even more to get the people to survive in it. If gave it back, it would be a even bigger mess.

Answer #8

I think its a terrible idea. Cultures are conquered and absorbed by other cultures - its the way its worked throughout history. I think we need to stop giving “native american’s” special privileges and just treat them like normal people. Same goes for all other minorities. Its getting to the point where white people are treated more like a minority than so called “minorities”. Everyone has the same rights. Everyone has the same laws. PERIOD!

Answer #9

This was something said in a commentary opinion after they viewed the Republican Debates. Just to clarify, it wasn’t just an intentional focus on Republicans but polticians as a whole. Anyway, it started me thinking those what if’s.

Actually I completely agree with you. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to be concerned the Indian Nations would ever rise up in a take over or take us up on the offer. The response coming from their culture of beliefs would likely be….You can’t give, what you don’t own.

Answer #10

We are treated like a minority, because today we are the minority. And you make a good point.

Answer #11

I need to clarify what I just posted….”We” meaning white people.

Answer #12

I tend to go with your post that it would be an even bigger mess, if that were to happen in the here and now.

Anyone can refer to Indians as Crazy Indians ….But their not stupid. As Cravingnomercy posted, “they embrace the basics of life”, which generated a deep study of it, and that includes human nature. Just given the number of people who stand for hours outside the stores, to be the first on their block to own the latest digital device , with bugs and glitches the companies haven’t worked out yet, and the customer paying top dollar to get it….The anarchy alone by the teenage population going through texting withdrawl and all the rest with no more FB……I suspect they know too how outnumbered they would be to their way of thinking. They had an earlier lesson about that, the first time around when the white man moved in ,assembled their government, and brought their technology with them.

Answer #13

In an idealistic theory, provided the population supported it…I agree the what if’s would have a positive impact. I also think other nations would have a sigh of relief and begin to trust us again. But the reality is this is not the time or place because the country nor world has reached a condition by which it needs them and their skill sets to survive.

Answer #14

I think we screwed up by slaughtering them and sending the to reservations in the middle of no where but I think we can’t give it back it’s too late

Answer #15

The belief is…they will one day get it back and what is left of society will ask/plead for them to take it back.

Answer #16

I should expand on your post though, along with food for thought on mine….These were a people displaced onto sand and rock that white men thought they couldn’t survive, because they knew they themselves as white men could not…..yet they did and to this day have managed to work with not against. When it comes to military defending this land/nation it is (right or wrong) the indegnious people you find most volunteering.

Answer #17

Sorry I missed this before. I just want to share an old bumper sticker I used to chuckle at in the 1980s:

U.S. out of North America!

Answer #18

Answer #20

Well it’s far to late now, but things could have worked quite peacefully if the white man hadn’t been so greedy. The “pilgrims” (not even the first settlers) but whatever, would have starved to death if not for the Indians. Greed Greed Greed is what slowly but surely turned the entire relationship around. I assure you, greed is the root cause of why the economy and the country is in the shape it is now, and will be the downfall if things don’t change. (I’m willing to explain that if you want.) “what comes around goes around”

Answer #21

I have to agree with you there. The American Indians had welcomed the poor settlers and things were fine till the Government and big money rolled in to see what they could add to line their pockets and power….at the cost of both the Indians and Settlers in turning one against the other. The one thing the Indians and the poor settlers had was spirituality (even though it differed) but they were able to live side by side, in finding the common bonds of it and respecting it . Many today don’t believe or accept any form of what is sacred other then money and power by the virtue of that is why we continue in a downward spiral.
