Why does my PC continue to randomly shut off?

It doesnt matter what i am doing on my computer. It wioll randomly turn off. I got it for christmas and i havent dones anything diffrent to it then my twin sister. I dont use any diiffrent sites then my sister (other then this site). I have no idea what is doing it. I am hoping some one else would know. Any ideas?

My computer did that one time, and what I found out is that I had a virus on it. After I got rid of it, I no longer had any problems.

i have an anti vitrus thing on my computer. After each time it does it, i run the program, and it always comes back as no virouses found

have you checked its not set to auto shutdown?

but let me ask…. is it actually shuting down or just sleeping?

It could over-heat, and to prevent catching fire. If they get to a certain temperature they will auto -matically shut off.

ahh..It could be a certain of things…If you have damaged your laptop (whether it fell or w/e) then maybe your Hard drive might have been damaged…another thing that could have happened is that one of the circuits or fuses in your system board may not be working….but the most likely thing that it could have been is the fan….a circuit in your fan might be sparking (as if it were too hot) and the fan is set off and your laptop shuts down because overheating……or it could be that the sides and bottom of your laptop may have been blocked or closed and causing it too overheat…If the problem persists…I recommend you buying a laptop fan that you put under your laptop and connect to a USB port…another thing I recommend is to not leave your laptop turned on for a substantial amount of time….Last and finally…I highly recommend not to use your laptop on your lap or especially in bed as this causes overheating…

And if your laptop keeps turning off after you buy a fan or you “let it breathe” than your laptop fan might not be working, tus not cooling down your laptop and it is automatically shutting down…You should contact your laptop manufacturer (Emachines) and (if you have warranty) you should seek another laptop…Hope this helps
