How can I pay attention in class when the instructor is plain boring?

Student usually thinks a teacher is boring when they doesn’t have any idea on the topic. If you read the chapters in the previous night then in the lecture day it will be easy for you to understand what the professor is talking about and you won’t find your professor as boring as you find now. There is nothing much you can do about a boring professor, the only thing you can do is to study by yourself and ask to the professor if you don’t get anything. That’s how i study and it brings good grade for me :)

Well, I only have the class once a week. But it is four hours and forty minutes long. And It is a computer class, so no reading chapters or anything like that. He just has a really thick accent and doesnt really seem to know about computers himself.

What I do with my boring teachers, I doodle for a few minutes. It keeps me entertained, and then come back listening to the teacher. If I become bored again, I tend to my doodles again but I keep my ears open. If you like drawing, this oculd possibly help you.

Try doing some kind of activity with your hands that they can do on “automatic pilot,” like doodling, knitting, etc. Some people find that this occupies the part of their mind that would otherwise wander, and frees up their attention to focus lightly (without struggling to concentrate) on the teacher’s presentation.
