Answer #1

The reason your parents are probably against it is because there is a spirit behind everything - especially music.

You may just be listening to it innocently because you like the sound of it but the spirit in it is entering you and your subconsciouss.

When Lucifer was in heaven (before he got kicked out) he was the music ministering angel and he uses music as a weapon. He works through the power of suggestion and through working on your mind.

There is actually a lot of good heavy Christian music available if you look for it. Im sure if you told your parents that you would like to replace your current metal cds with some Christian metal ones - they would be more then happy to buy you some.

As christians we have a responsibility to gaurd our ear and eye gates for our own protection. God bless!

P.S. You may want to check out the show God Rocks for some heavy music samples. I like Pettidee and Skillet. music doesn't have to sound like "church music" to glorify God.

I love any kind of rock and metal and I wear a hell of a lot of black my gaurdian threatened to send my to a psychiatrist just tell them that this is what a lot of people listen to this century and that there parents probably didn’t like the same music they did

questionsanswered there is no statement as to what Lucifer was the angel of. However, the name Lucifer(originally being a Greek god before the Israelites took the name) meant light bringer. It was the star that shone, as it rose so did the sun. Try doing some research on things.

Just mind how load you turn the radio up & it shouldn’t bother them too much. I enjoy listening to hardcore metal myself. Perhaps if you explain to them why you enjoy the music or explain some lyrics to them(becarful the lyrics you choose though) that should calm them down. Best of luck to you.

Answer #4

Well, I grew up with my dad listening to the Rolling Stones and Eagles, so I never had a problem with a musical conflict but..I would assume if you just be respectful of their choice they’ll be more respectful of yours. Don’t play it in the radio or loudly. Headphones are a beautiful invention.

Answer #5

It’s not very common to find parents who actually ‘like’ their teen’s choice of music.

If they aren’t trying to stop you, then just respect that they don’t like it and play it at a level at which they don’t have to hear it.

Answer #6

That’s how parents are,my mom doesn’t like Nu Metal or just Metal period,I told her that when I tried listening to Gospel I wanted to feel some base and she said it’s for relaxation and to hear the word. I was crazy enough to say I want to hear the words in Metal.

Basically tell them that everyone has there own taste in music and they should respect you for it no matter what kind of music it is.

Answer #7

mmm.. you can get an ipod or mp3.. put whatever music you want on it.. and I doubt they will ever hear them.. =P

Answer #8

P S. I just remembered the show I was thinking of is’nt called God Rocks it’s called G-Rock.

Answer #9

I’m 20, I’ve moved out of home and I still have my dad breathing fire down my neck about the music I listen to, because it’s evil and if I continue to listen to it I will somehow just end up worshiping the devil!

Try printing them some of the lyrics (like underoaths song ‘a love so pure’ or Killswitch Engage song ‘A Light In A Darkened World’) show them lyrics and also ask them how all good things come from God. and that while some of these bands aren’t Christians they are playing honest music. A lot of the lyrics are them crying out in pain asking “what do I do?” (eg. little girls pointing and laughing - alexisonfire. ((but maybe don’t show them those lyrics because there’s a bit of swearing)) but that song is basically the guy crying out in pain, basically saying to God “I can’t do it anymore, end my life!”)… You don’t get a lot of Christians being that openly honest with God. let your parents know that while they might not all be Christians there is still so much you can learn from them.

If you look for the evil in everything you will find it!! but if you look for the good (and all goodness comes from God) you will surely find him, and hear his voice guiding you, even in the midst of ‘evil music’.

All the best mate and let me know how it goes! Remember your parents are only doing it because they love you and are worried about you. So don’t let it upset you too much.
