Can a parent put a teenager into foster care?

I mean if the parent doesnt want to take care of the child anymore and refuses to wouldnt foster care (or adoption) be better

Answer #1

yes, as long as theyre under the age of 18 they can be put in foster care but once the child is 18 they can’t stay there anymore, theyre out on their own.

Answer #2

That’s not really true. My grandmother aunt and god parents are foster parents so I know a lot of social workers. no your parents CANT put you in foster care for no reason. If you run away a lot, Hurt yourself, abuse them, get in a lot of fights, ect then they can call DCF and explain what they’re child is doing, then they cam be taken away. And you have a choice to sign out of foster care AFTER high school, if your 18 and still in high school, you have to stay until you graduate. You can CHOOSE to stay in foster care after 18 because they will pay for a community college for you to go to. But the only way they pay for college is if you stay with them. You could be 24 And still in care.

Answer #3

Your foster parents can also take guidian ship of you if they want.
