Origin and nature of the Universe

I am currently taking a college class and was assigned to write a paper concerning the origin and nature of the Universe. What is your opinion on how the world was created or where did it come from.

Answer #1

AMEN to what amblessed said!!!

Answer #2

Everything you need is recorded in the Bible - no better resource.

Answer #3

If by nothing we mean empty space, then it is true that particles do appear out of nothing. They are subatomic particals and wink in and out of existence, not from actual nothing but the closet thing we know to it.

The big bang theory is the closet thing to what I believe may have happened.

Personally I find the whole god idea a bit inane.

Answer #4

I believe that the big bang theory and evolution. There have been numerous studies that have shown that something can be made from nothing. You can’t believe what a book says.

Answer #5

Well when we create a building there are blueprints, I suppose that creating life would also need blueprints otherwise we would spend trillions of years for trial and error for the first species of plant. Humm.. interesting subject if you like, email me and I will toss some other ideas your way.

Answer #6

My belief - and it is only a belief, as it cannot be proven (jsut like everyone elses!) - is a combination of creationism and evolutionism. I believe that without an intelligent being to start the universe as we know it, and to create everything, there would be no universe. At the same time, I believe that this intelligent being - God - provided the matter and the life force, but allowed creatures to evolve, time being of no importance to Him. Whether He created the world in seven days or seven billion years, God still created it. I believe that once it creation was started, it went through a combination of Godly guidance and evolution.

Answer #7

I believe similar to smithmax

I believe that there is some sort of “god” that had a hand in our creation, but that mainly it happened through evolution. In my mind this Godly figure started it all ,but doesn’t isn’t really a part of it anymore.

Answer #8

No… there hasn’t…

Answer #9

The “known universe” was at one point concentrated in 1 or more post singularity events. That’s really all we can say at this point about the origin of the universe. Regarding its nature, it has very regulat pridictable behaviors we call ‘laws’. We don’t know why.

There are many speculative ideas out there, none of which are sufficiently developed or demonstrable. My favorite, is that nothing actually exists, and what we observe is simply a well organized possibility.
