What should I do with my betta fish while I'm away for Thanksgiving (read more)?

I am going home for thanksgiving break, the dorms at my university are closed. I have a choice, take my betta with me for a 2 1/2 hour drive, or leave him here for a full week with no food. I have read they cannot go longer than 3 days without food, but would the stress of moving be worse? I am leaving in the morning so please answer quick!

You can buy these white food blocks at petco for like $5 that you can just leave in the tank for a week or longer.

they are really unreliable and tend to either break or over feed fish, I already looked into that

Nope I’ve used them when I go on vacation several times, they work fine
