How to stop biting my nails?

so I’m like an O.D nail biter really bad habit 1]how do I stop? 2]how long does it take for nails to grow normal length? HELP!

Answer #1

just find a new better habbit.chew healthy gum, instead of your nails, play a sport, and be a lot more active.if they’re really bad it’ll take a good month and trust me you’ll know when they’re long enough.I hate it when people bite their nails.I definantly dont bite mine.

I had that, and then I put on fake nails, from the drugstore, for like a week, and when I took them off, they were long enough for me to notice if I tried to bite/pick them.

And Sally hanses nail thingy, like miracle growth or something, really works !

I wouldn’t sugget fake nails sry to disagree. Its hard on your nails 2 get fake ones on. However I used to bite my nails but now they are long. I’d suggest finding some sort of cutical lotion or nail strenthner taste nasty but good for your nails.

Actually now that I think about it,try Nail polish REMOVER on your nails, instead of nail polish. That stuff tastes HORRIBLE and itll stay on your nails untill you wash with soap. :]

Answer #5

My friend has this. Try painting your nails.Everytime you bite your fingernails, itll taste like nail polish,so youll stop. if you dont want colored nails,Clear polish is always a good option :]

I used to bite my nails terribly! so I have a few suggestions : buy bite it (with a line through it). it works so well. it tasted like acid! paint your nails. usually when I have paint on them I dont want to ruin it. OR, get a manicure often. the ladies there always embarrassed me “OHH YOUR NAILS ARE SO SHORT!!!” so id make myself not bite (: and get some of those nail strengthening polishes. they can help make your nails thicker and harder to bite ! hope this helps (:

  • Keep an emery board handy so when you need it, it’s available. If its not, it is going to be your teeth that take care of the nail, and you know what that means.

    • Better yet, try spending a few minutes every day caring for your nails. This could be a massage, oiling your cuticles, applying polish… whatever works.

    • Keep the nails polished. For some reason, a little polish seems to make you want to leave them alone. And did you know that even short nails can wear red polish. It’s true and what’s even better, men seem to love it!

    • If you find your fingers moving toward your mouth all on their own, you might want to invest in a bottle of anti-bite liquids. Trust me, it does taste horrid.

    • As a previous nail biter, I sometimes find that I fall back into old habits. But, it seems that if I have something to keep my hands occupied, my nails are safe. A stress ball works for me.

    • There is nothing worse than trying to grow out your nails just to have them break or peel. Here is a tip I heard a little while ago. It involves rubbing raw garlic over the surface of your nails. After a week, nails should be stronger. Definitely worth a try if you don’t mind the smell.

THANK YOU!!!

Answer #11

None of that works… if you’re like me you’ll just pick at them too.

Nail biting and nail picking have always been battle for me… why I dunno. It’s something I’ve done since I was really little.

What I do is get my nails done every couple of weeks, while they are growing underneath you have pretty nails and can practice not biting the acrylic. Then when you get them off you have to put nail strengthener on because they will be brittle.
