Need some info/advice on starting a buisness involved with gaming

Im a senior in high school, but im tying to map out what I want to do after this. I really want to do something that involves my love of videogames. I want to open a Internet/Gaming cafe but I need to figure out first off some things. But I want to make it from scracth up, and not try and buy a current internet cafe.

  • Is that really a good business to start out with for gaming?
  • What kind of degree should I get for this?

Also, im thinking about getting a Bachelors in Game Simulation and Programing Degree from DeVry (don’t know any other college that offers it) While trying to get a minor in Computer Science. With that, I want to maybe try and apply for different Companies.

Really not sure which one I want to do, but if you have advice, Id appreciate it

It would definitely be good for you to get a business administration degree, just to help you with starting it up and keeping the records, etc.

It seems like a really cool business, I’d also suggest you have an area for board games for the major geeks, like Warhammer 40K.

I’d suggest looking into that Bachelors at DeVry and see if they also offer a business degree. Getting 2 at once isn’t as bad as it sounds =)

But its more money to do… Then again, it wil be helpful if I do that.

I actually play 40k at a hobby store near me. Its pretty cool, and most people who get attracted to it are usually gamers. But I don’t want to ruin the shop that I currently go to by opening my own, and investing in items for 40k is expensive compared to getting games and gamesystems.
