How can I survive this horrible day?

AHHH it sounds EXACTLY like when I had mono. I’d be willing to bet money that it’s what you have…the same thing happened to me.

I had a sore throat for weeks and couldn’t eat or swallow anything. I also couldn’t stay awake, not even in class. Finally, I got those white patches in my throat. That’s when I went to the doctor, who told me it looked like a virus!

A week and a half later, I went back because it was getting worse. They tested me for mono—sure enough, it was!

They don’t give you anything per se for it…so that sucks. BUT, they did give me a shot of a strong anti-inflammatory that helped my throat swelling. Made it much easier to swallow. I remember I could swallow better immediately after the shot, by the time I walked out of the office.

I suggest you either call your doctor tomorrow demanding results and a diagnosis, or seek another opinion. Mono is very painful and you should be getting anti-inflammatory drugs now…

Oh, and eat ice…suck on it to numb your throat. Don’t worry about eating anything other than clear broth and jello.
