my chihuahua has undescended testicles, can he still produce and im

My 9 month old chahuahua has undescended testies and we want to mate him with our 3 year old female, befor we have him fixed for the undescended testicles, is it posible for him to produce sperm with this condition, he has no problem with getting an erection. thanks for any advice you can give Dennis

Answer #1

Don’t breed horrible traits into more puppies I completely agree with phrannie.

Also don’t breed your dog period, if you want more puppies adopt some, don’t add to animal overpopulation. Its a big enough problem as it is.

Answer #2

His ability to produce young is iffy, since normal descended testicles are slightly cooler than the rest of the body. When they are still IN the body, they are body temp…which kills sperm.

Now…why would you want to breed a dog with undescended testicles in the first place? It’s a genetic screw up…one that you will be sending down the line to future generations…Get another stud dog, if you’re determined to have pups… (the chances of cancer in undescended testicles that aren’t removed are far higher)…get this guy neutered and save his life.

Answer #4

seems like people could answer a question without insulting and condecending advice, how the heck would I know these things ,thats what I asked the question for, for advice not not to be insulted, I think ill withdraw from this site ,thanks for the snotty advice

Answer #5

I’m sorry you took the answers as snotty. There are good breeders in this world and bad breeders…If you really want to breed these guys, then I’d suggest getting on the internet and reading everything you can about the pro’s and con’s…about genetics…Know the standard of your chosen breed inside and out…in order to give your dogs an unemotional view…One that can honestly say “this dog is perfect”…then choose a mate, who is just as perfect. Bringing pups into this world for any reason other than bettering the breed, is a bad reason.
