Im having chihuahua babies

What is the average range in price for a c section for a chihuahua. My chi is due sptember 20th. This is my first time having babies. I am a nurse so I know I can handle it but I am asking for all the advice I can get. I’ve done my reserch and I have an appointment for an xray on the 7th of september. This may be to early do you think? It is payday thats why I choose this day. If anyone can tell me anything I havn’t read yet I would love to hear from you. I have to say I am a bit scared. What do you think about giving my girl tums at time of birth for a boost of calcium. I’ve also heard vanilla ice cream, cottages cheese, one even said raw hamburger, don’t think thats wise! Let me know what you think

I did nothing different in my chi’s pregnancy other then, increase her food and feed her puppy food. Here first litter she had no problems and she had three of them. she is only 4 lbs, so she did take a nap between the 2 and 3rd pup, I was with her the whole time and called the vet if I had any questions. However I work for the vet. With this litter I did x-rays around 3-4 days before her due date, you need to make sure that the pups have skelaton, because x-rays to early can harm the babies.

Now the second litter she had ONE, We did about 2 x-rays on her about 5 days apart, she was due on the weekend and most of my doctors were out of town, so on Friday based on the x-ray and how big the puppy was I had to make a choice, so we did a c-section. I choose for her to have a Cath, Pain managment, Ekg, and blood work, plus the c-section, so for me it was about $700.00 for one puppy, And I sold her for $650.00, and the new owners got to view all the vet bills. the first litter I sold for $500.00. With out paper, I am not a show person and I was not breeding show dogs, just pets. I am glad you are doing the reasearch you need to do. The only thing I had to do was rip open the sac and use the bulb syringe in there mouth and nose to remove the fluid, then mommy licked them up, she tried to clean everything up but it was to much for her, so I left her eat a little bit and removed most of the afterbirth, She was a great mother. Good luck. also I use what is called a Snuggle Safe to keep in the whelping box. They are better and much safer then a heating pad, this can burn the pups, and cause fire’s. I know I ordered them through my Vet, but I have bought some on E-Bay. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Answer #3

you can look at my pic’s to see the puppies.

this is the one that we delived c-section, she was 4.5oz, I was present and cried the whole time, the hard thing is, is making sure as soon as mommy wakes up she excepts the pup and lets in nurse even though she is sore.
