My Cat has been spayed please help

Hi I really need some advice. I got my cat spayed today and when I got her home she went straight to her food at ate which is good but then she was tugging at her stitches and it took me and my partner an hour to get a cone on her because she was really really grumpy and kept attacking us but now she has the cone on she cant eat or drink and if I only take her cone off to eat its going to take me a long time and a load of scratches to get it back on and I dont want to put her under anymore stress what can I do to make her more comfortable??

Answer #1

Well, I’ve never been really into cats, but, my advice is, just leave her be…

I mean, cats are really independent creatures, she’ll probably be okay by herself, and will calm down with the time…

Answer #2

Cats are very resilient and heal pretty quickly, a cat I had for a bit was jumping up onto furniture when I brought her home after being spayed. Call the vet before they close and find out if you can just leave the cone on today and take it off tomorrow…

Answer #3

It is very important to leave the cone on her for the amount of time the doctor told you two, They can and will get to their food and water with the cone on, Either use a bowl smalle then the e-coller for her to fit her face in or Bigger then the e-collar to get her face down in. NOw My question is, at our hospital the sutures are in the inside and desolve on there own, we use the e-coller to keep them from licking the incision and getting a infection So are the sutures on the outside, if so all the more important it is that she does NOT pull them out. Did they offer pain mangement to keep her comfortable? If not then call and see if you can get some Metacam or another pain relief to keep her calm the next couple of days

Answer #4

Can you trim the cone so it’s not so large she can’t eat or drink…yet cannot get to her stitches??

If you have to take it off…wrap her in a towel to put it back on…save yourself (and her) the chance of injury.
