My cat has constant constipation, even though I give him colace (sometimes over 100 mgs) a day, plus pumpkin in his food 2 X a day. I have an expensive kibble dispenser for him that gives him a little over a teaspoon of dry food a day/night. STILL he needs vet/cat enemas. DO NOT give human enemas, they will kill him. Only enemas you can get online just for cats. Ones at vets cost 4X as much. I have tried everything, I conclude he has mega colon, and must be given enemas at least 2X a month. It is a mess. Even though he is high maintenence, he is my baby and worth it. I am still trying different things. Nothing seems to work. His stools are like rocks. I should really give him NO kibble a day, but that makes him miserable. He loves kibble! I use to take him to vet to get enemas, but learned to do it myself. Too expensive. Have had several 500 dollar emergency visits to vets. This is no way for an animal to suffer. He knows his mommy is trying to help him, and doesn’t even fight the enema. Afterwards, he is right back begging for food… ah well.

Answer #2

GET HIM TO THE VET! Just because human meds work on humans, doesn’t mean that it might not be harmful to the cat. He may have a blockage…that is fatal if not addressed.

Definately bring him to the Vet. Please let us know how he is

Answer #4

Conditions that may result in a constipated cat are numerous, and some are severe, so a veterinarian should see any constipated cat. The constipated cat may have blockages or tumors that are causing feces not to be able to pass easily through the intestines. Most often, the constipated cat is dehydrated, and may need initial intravenous fluids.
