My baby spits up after solid foods?

My baby is a little over 4 months now, and she spits up around 20-30 minutes after I give her food. I have only let her have carrots so far because I don’t want her to not like them. Please help. Do you think she doesn’t like them, or is her spitting up just what babies do? I am only worried because she does is shortly after her feeding, and she has never really been a spit up baby.

It may be too soon for her to start solid foods. Most doctors will start babies as young as 4 months on solids, when really the recommended age is 6 months for solid foods.

Also, you have to remember that your baby is learning how to use their tongue to swallow this new strange solid food. She may not be spitting up, she may be accidently pushing the food out of her mouth when she’s trying to swallow.

I would stop feeding her the carrots if she’s spitting up shortly after she’s eating though, that sounds as if her stomach is not ready to handle that type of food. Wait atleast a week (you are supposed to wait a week before introducing new foods to watch for allergies), and then try her on something else. If she does the same thing, she may not be ready for solids just yet.

Have you tried introducing baby cereal mixed with her formula (feed with a spoon, never in a bottle). a lot of times that is easier fot them to digest at first and a great way to introduce solids.

every doctor is differant but I know almost all of them start babies on rice cerial at 4 months. they dont get veggies or fruits until 6 months. call your childs pediatrician.

stick with rice cereal (it’s like runny oatmeal for babies)

Stay away from the veggies, the young belly is not ready to learn to digest them. Most veggies are fibrous (stringy) even when pureed.
