baby not eating

My baby is turning one tomorrow, and it’s been 2 weeks that he’s not eating solid foods. He used to adore cerelac and fruits, he’ doenst even want to open his mouth when he sees the spoon. H’es only accepting the biscuits which is not enough, and only drinking milk. I tried everything, diluting the fruits, giving him not pureed food, other tastes,etc.. I’ts not working, im concerned, but the thing is that the doc said it must be teething, because till now he still hasnt’ any teeth erupted. pls tell me what you think,

thank you all for your answers. They were really helpful. He’s still not eating well, but it’s better than before. At least he’s eating 4-5 spoons of soupe and things like cheese , bread , ham ( whatever we eat in front of him , hehehehe), but still in small quantities.. H’es not eating like he used to. but as some of you said, im not forcing food on him.
I hope those teeth will erupt soon, and all will get back to normal.

I don’t know if you get it over there, but get to teejel. That stuff will ease the irritation.

I agree with the doctor and everyone else on this one. He’s probably getting teeth and that would also explain him only eating the biscuits. They’re good for a baby to “naw” on when they’re teething. Just don’t force food on him, he’ll eat when he’s hungry. Try cutting up soft foods, like bananas, and let him eat them on his own.

Answer #4

Try giving him pedeialyte freezes so he atleast stays hydrated then maybe you can tell if its teething bothering him.

Answer #5

When I first started reading this I thought he’s probably teething. What kind of spoon do you use for him? This might sound odd but if it’s metal it could be making his gums hurt more. They make baby spoons with a “rubber” coating. Try giving him one of those spoons with nothing on it just to hold and chew on a little. It might make him feel more comfortable eating from it. Have you tried rubbing his gums? If you stick your clean finger in his mouth and rub his gums it should feel good for him, also if they “squeak” that means that they are stretched…his teeth will be coming in soon.

As long as his doctor knows what’s going on don’t worry about it too much, just keep trying everyday and eventually he will start again…remember that babies are stubborn and definately have minds of their own :)

Answer #6

The doctor is probably right…teething will affect your child’s appetite.

You need to remember something, though - an infant does not have the capacity to starve himself…when he is hungry enough, he will eat.

Just keep offering him the food…perhaps give him little finger foods that he can feed himself - he may want to try out a little independence.
