Modern family oriented people.

Okay I have noticed something different. Less and less people are getting married and my teacher was saying that less people are family oriented. I wonder why people are wanting kids less and less. Is it because the cost of living? , or imaturity or something?.

The importance of Family and Family values have diminished greatly - many today are party, do whatever I want, not tied down, commitment, no way - it’s me, me, me, whatever !

I think it has a lot to do with how much the world has changed. Think about it:

Way back when, people had tons of kids - because they needed the extra hands around the house, business, and farms. They had kids to help them.

Then you have the Catholics I believe, who strongly did not believe in birth control, so they had as many kids as God would allow them to have. Now, even most catholics dont follow this rule and do get on birth control or use condoms.

Also, it’s a different time. We aren’t rushed into marriage anymore, or thought to be insane if you were married with children by the time your 20. People are starting to put themselves first, think more, and accomplish things they want to, before they start a family. I see nothing wrong with that.

Over the last decade the average age women are having children had risen dramatically. I think it’s because people are wanting there careers first and children later.

The marriage part- Maybe people are realising marriage is sacred and not something you should rush in to. Statistically relationships actually get worse after marriage- it’d downhill from there.Fact.

There are several factors coming together that have led to recent trends. Divorce laws in several countries came into place a few decades ago, laws that made it a lot easier to get divorced. Then came the women’s rights movement, that led to women becoming more independent. They started to go to school, and more and more started to work outside the home. Then came the economy, making it very hard to live on one salary, which meant women had to work out of the home. The average life span has been increasing, people expect to live for much longer, so there’s no rush to have kids… Also attitudes have generally changed so that women who have kids on their own, co-habit with partners, or get divorced are no longer ostracized. So it’s a combination of a lot of factors that have led to people having less kids… Women, especially, do not have to stay at home, cook, clean and raise kids. And so a lot of the time they choose to postpone it, and sometimes that leads to no kids, or fewer kids. Also the cost of education has increased to the point where if you want your kids to get a college education, you cant afford to have as many kids. It really is a complex mix of things. You cant just call it immaturity, or put it down to cost of living…

The world is overpopulated… reproduction isn’t really a high priority anymore…

The divorce rate has climbed drastically… because its more socially acceptable. Its also more socially acceptable to have children without getting married.
