What are those little marble like balls that swell in water?

My little neighbor down the street gave them to me in a cup and told me I cannot throw them out, and I have them on my counter waiting for something to happen. They look like marbles, but they have this slimy rubbery like texture and I still don’t what they are for lol. Somehow I feel like I am being pranked by her.

Answer #1

smell them. if they smell pretty, they are bath beads. if not, do they dissapear to the naked eye when u put it in water? if so, its some cool thing and idk what they are called.

Answer #2

I will, but I will be shocked if this kid somehow pranks me lol. Thanks Damon.

. Water-Gel Crystals maybe ? . They are sold under a variety of trade names, and I first came across them as a method of maintaining a healthy moisture content in the potting compost for house plants and seedlings. . http://funadvice.com/r/bnjm8iea3t0 .

. Another possiblity is snails or slugs eggs which are about 1/16 inch diameter ( one to two millimetre diameter ). . The image below is slugs eggs. They may congeal into a lump if confined close together in moist conditions, or appear to be completely separate in drier conditions. .
