What do you think of that young boy who was been meditating without eating/drinking for like 2 years?

I just watched a documentary on a 15 year old boy who people believe to be a reincarnation of Buddha himself. The boy had been meditating in a trance for like 10 months without eating or drinking anything which according to science is impossible. In the doco, they recorded him non stop with a camera for the number of days it would take for a human to die without food or water and he was still alive. They actually did a full time recording twice and both times he just kept… living. What do you think about all of this? Here’s the link to the doco I watched: http://funadvice.com/r/14vi7jrv1er Apparently there are also other people (one of which is featured in the video) who can defy science and go weeks without food or water too. They recorded the other guy for however many days it takes for a human to die as well and he just kept on living too…

I’m not sure what to think or believe about all of this. Maybe somebody here who is buddhist, or knows a little more about this kind of thing could do some explaining? Or maybe somebody devoted to science to try and explain how he did it?

Wow, I’ll definitely watch this, sounds cool. If it’s not a hoax I guess it goes to show what the human mind can do if ones will is strong enough.

Answer #2

It’s really interesting, I would definitely recommend it to watch. Then come back and tell me what you think!

I know that some Buddhist monks can slow their heart rate and metabolism, so maybe it’s possible. It IS an awfully long time, though.

I’ve seen a story before on an elderly man who had claimed to not eat or drink anything for 70 years, and still be alive. They also taped him for 10 days, and he didn’t eat or drink. (YouTube clip: http://funadvice.com/r/14vibri5k7p)

I’m honestly not sure what to think of it. While they make it seem possible, in my mind it’s way too bazaar.

Oh yeah the guy in your link is in the vid I watched too :P

Answer #8

I saw a youtube about a boy called the “Little Buddha” who did just that. I think it’s amazing and science can not even explain that.
