Why do male dogs hike their leg to pee but other male animals don't?

Just curious and I know a dumb question

Answer #1

Every dog is different :P

Male dogs lift their leg so they can aim higher. They mark their territory with urine, and peeing higher up on the object makes them higher rank.

Answer #2

But y do they do and no other aninal does

Answer #3

It is a good question. It is actually Pheromones.

Answer #4

from what i know it is a display of dominance. If you watch a pack of dogs then you will see that the more docile dogs will not raise their leg and they will just squat. Whereas the alpha male will raise his leg when he pees to show that he is the dominant male.
