Detainees are forced to listen to music they dont like for long periods of time between interrogation. They find Metalica’s “Enter Sandman” very disturbing.

Sleep depervation is really cleaver, when the suspect gets very tired he will accidendly release information. What happens is they will either get so desperate for sleep that they will say something. Or they will be half awake and half asleep so they wont know what is reality and what is a dream.

Waterboarding: Holding a suspect down on a bench and putting a cloth in his mouth and pouring water over his face.

non severe forms of torture? That sounds like a bit of a contradiction :) You can search on youtube for christopher hitchens who agreed to have water boarding tried out on himself, let’s just say he didn’t consider it ‘less severe’ :). It might help for your essay too.
