How do I test for lead paint on toys? Is there some way to tell whether or not the paint is dangerous?
Hybrivet Systems, Inc. has a line of home testing kits to check for lead--especially in light of the recent lead scare; the kits can test a number of items and are quite affordable. I believe you can buy direct from them and below is the website address. You can also have your child's pediatrician test a toy more accurately for lead, I believe this is recommended over home kits. If you do think your child(ren) has been exposed to lead, take the child(ren) to their pediatrician and he or she can test lead levels in the blood via a finger or heel prick--not always a fun or easy task but it is less painful than venipuncture and I believe MD's recommend testing your children yearly for the presence of lead. Take care. :-) -S

We tried a few lead test kits from http://amazon.com and http://check4lead.com. Most tests are simple to use and don't cost very much. When it comes to our kids safety we dont mess around. If you have any thoughts as to lead poisoning, take you child to the doctor for a blood test. Lead can affect your kids ability to learn and or be successful.
We bought some lead test kits from http://www.check4lead.com/ and home depot.
