Will laxatives help me lose weight?

If I use laxatives, will I loose weight? I mean if I have a normal bowel movement, and still use laxatives. will it help or will it not?

Answer #1

they will only help you lose water/sh*t weight. if you take them regularly your body will get used to them and you’ll have to take more and more. then you wont be able “to go” without using them. not to mention the tummy cramps and being stuck indoors. it’s not pleasent.

Answer #2

Answer #3

They’ll help you get diarrhea, and help you become dehydrated.

Answer #4

No…laxatives are to help you, um, go. They won’t help with weight loss.

Answer #5

Dear me0oh0my, Laxatives do NOT make you lose weight Laxatives are not a way to control or lose weight. They do not remove food from your body before the calories are absorbed. The belief that laxatives are a way for losing weight is not true. It is simply a myth. Laxatives remove a lot of water from your body, and this ‘water loss’ is often mistaken for ‘weight loss’. Your body not only loses a lot of water, which causes dehydration, it also loses essential minerals and electrolytes– and the mineral and electrolyte balance of your body gets upset. Electrolytes such as potassium, sodium, and magnesium are essential for your body. An electrolyte imbalance in the body is harmful and can lead to muscle pain, spasms, fainting spells, irregular heartbeat, and in some cases even death. Sue…good luck
