kosher salt

if I dont have kosher salt can I use sea salt?

Answer #1

ichibanarky, sea salt tastes different than table salt. I’m not saying “you wouldn’t want to put sea salt on your food” for health reasons, but for the sake of one’s own palate!

Answer #2

“you wouldn’t want to put sea salt on your food”

You can use sea salt on food

If you don’t have kosher salt, just regular table salt will be fine - it usually doesn’t make that much of a difference (depending on what you are putting it in)

Answer #3

Well, assuming that you need it for the specific fact that it is blessed by a rabbi, while it is not kosher, it is a naturally found item that really shouldn’t have to be blessed. But trust me, you wouldn’t want to put sea salt on your food!

Answer #4

Yes very similar

Answer #5

A lot of recipes call for sea salt…what you have to consider is how much, particularly if you are using it as a substitute
