Jehovah witnesses don't believe in blood transfusions?

Is it true the Jehovah witnesses don’t believe in blood transfusions? I read something about this online off their website and I was just wondering if that’s true?

Answer #1

Yer they do, they think the body is pure and sacred and putting somebody elses blood/organs etc inyou is making you impure and against god or something like that.

Answer #2

see the reason they dont accept blood transfusions is bc blood is life and the bible says that we cannot take anyone elses life.. so doing it is against the bible principles..try contacting them or reading about it at www.watchtower.org

thats their original site.. no fake one or imitation.

1st of all…to god, blood is sacred..its is the source of life…even when he allowed man to eat animaal flesh 4 the 1st time he made it a law that you have to properly bleed the animal 1st before consumption…all throught the bibile this point is emphesized. Acts 15:29 states “For the holy spirit and we ourselves have favored adding no further burden to YOU, except these necessary things, 29 to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication. If YOU carefully keep yourselves from these things, YOU will prosper. Good health to YOU!”…notice how it says that obeying this commandment will bring “GOOD HEALTH TO YOU”…gods laws are there 4 a reason…he doesnt want to put unnecesary restrictions on us..the law is there to protect us, its part of him showing love for us, …now consider blood transfusions…They are not guarenteeed success and if they are youll have a shortened life with many dificulties…poit is,.. bloood transfusions are dangerous and uncirtain…becouse of jehovahs winesses a new method was made in wich the body usses its own blood during surgery , thus no need need 4 a transfusion…This method is safer cheaper…and most importantly you can keep your integrity towards your heavenly father…u cant just expect to disobey a law from the supremem and not face consequences…and even if you do feel a transfusion is absolutly necesary to keep 1 alive(which is never true)..the bibile says tah he that trys to save his lief will loose it…but he that looses his life for the sake of the law will gain lief…think about that

I am an ex JW and know this issue inside and out. I used to be an Elder and a member of the Visiting Patients Group for hospitals. They do not accept whole blood, nor any of the four main components(as seen from their point of view), white blood cells, red blood cells, plasma, or platelets. However, recently they are allowing that their members accept fractions of these four main components. Of course, these reasoning is not scriptural, since the Bible does not mention blood transfusions, and of course, much less the difference they make of the components or fractions. The funny thing is that they can accept these fractions of blood, however, are prohibited from donating blood. So those of them who accept that are availing themselves of the blood supply to which they can not contribute. Not very loving is it? They also do not accept their own blood that has been previously stored. However, it is acceptable to use the heart lung machine, where blood is removed from the body, filtered through a machine and introduced back into their body. Of course, all of these different ways of seeing this is policy established, not by the Bible, but by their Governing Body located in Brooklyn. They are expected to follow their policy and not questions it, under no circumstance.

Well, that’s my two cents on the subject for now.

How does this scripture make sense?? John 1 v 18 ‘ No man has seen god at ANY time’

you never finished the verse. it reads ‘ no on has seen God. But the one and only Son is himself God and is near the fathers heart. He has revealed God to us.’

And there hundreds of scriptures thats prove Jesus is God.

I dont take away the fact that JW’s have the rite to believe in whatever they want, same as anyone else, im just pointing out were it contradicts what I believe. same way they would do with mine.

Whatever you do, do for the glory of God. Including transfusions. Living by the Bible’s standard is what the Pharisees tried and that is living under the law. None of them could live perfectly by ALL 600+ laws. We ALL fall short of the Glory of God. Live under Grace from the atonement of Jesus and all these things will come to you. By living under Grace, we WANT to do the will of God and it is like saying, “faith without works is dead.” But we know that in this world, it is not about me, everything is about God. Jesus Christ removed Himself from Glory, took upon Himself humbleness and lived on this earth as a man, showing us how to live for Him, Our Heavenly Father. Even His disciples ran away from the cross. There was not even one, no not one who stayed with Him till the end, except His mother. And why is it that women went to see if He was still in the tomb on the third day? They got to hear the angel speak that He had risen and is among the living. Glory to the Lord Who was and is and is to come!

In Acts 15:28, 29, Christians are commanded to abstain from blood. ( in fact, there it is equated with idolatry and fornication)

Also, consider this: what if an alcoholic was told by his doctor to abstain from liquor, would it be acceptable for him to have it pumped directly into his blood stream?

Answer #8

It also says in Mark 7 v 15, Its not what goes into your body that defiles you; you are defiled by what comes from your heart.

Jehovah Wittnesses also believe that Jesus wasnt God. But it says in John 1 v 1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God.

(the Word being Jesus)

If you get blood from someone it doesnt mean that they lost their life!!! People donate blood and it’s for GREAT reasons, like to keep their life!! Ugghhh! People come on stop being brainwashed and think for yourself!

Answer #10

Yes.. you are correct about that scripture.. but think about it.. saying someone is someone else is pretty common.. I can say I am mom, meaning I have a lot of qualities she has.. People do it all the time.. Remember the bible was written by humans, for humans so saying something like “but the one and only Son is himself God and is near the fathers heart. He has reveled God to us.” , Doesn’t necessarily have to be taken literaly. By them saying he has reveled God to us , they were not saying he is God or anything like that.. Just he has made us know who God is , most likely by his actions. He is a mirror image of God. God is his father.. A lot of sons are just like their father.. it is normal. Just think about that for a bit please.

Answer #11

Jesus says”but concerning that day or the hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the son but only the father (Mark 13:32 there are also texts in the New Testament which confirm that Jesus did not act on his own. Jesus is quoted in John 5:30 as saying “I can of mine own self do nothing…and in Luke 11:20, as saying But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the Kingdom of God is come upon you, Matthew 12:18 “Behold My Servant whom I have chosen.” In this passage God calls Jesus His servant
