Jack russell puppie

How many times a day should I feed and walk my 3.5 month old jack russell? Is he too old for his vaccinations or can he have them anytime? Thanks in advance

Answer #1

Twice a day is fine for feeding…if you think he’s losing weight, feed a little more at each feeding…vice versa if you think he’s getting too heavy.

Food is a HUGE motivator for dogs, and JTR’s are a dominant type breed (bossy)…him seeing YOU as the provider of that food, ups your “status” in a dogs eyes. You doing the feeding also deepens the bond between you…

He needs to eat more than just 2x a day!!! He is a puppy, a human baby would need to eat more than that, why wouldn’t a puppy? At this age they are nibblers, they will take a piece of food or 2 and eat them, then run back over and get another couple in about 10 mins. It would be a good idea to leave the food down all the time (but take it away a couple hours before bed so that he is empty for the night), if the food is always down he will be less likely to get over weight and shouldn’t get possessive of his food. And I totally agree with the others on the shots, they are very important! My family and I have been raising puppies for aout 25 years, by the time a puppy is about 10 wees old here, they have already had 3 puppy shots, 2 parvo shots,2 kennel cough vaccinations, and we aso worm them weekly!

Answer #3

He needs his shots IMMEDIATELY!!! Do NOT walk him anywhere until he’s had them. Parvo is picked up in the ground, and you risk his life taking him anywhere…keep him home, until after the second innoculation.

You need to get him his shots yes and you should feed him twice a day. Once in the moring and once at night around 6 then around 8:30 take away all food and water..unless he is potty trained..then dont worry about that..I breed jackies..they are hyper little dogs so play with them as mush as possible even when cali ( female jakie) was due for puppie (she had them next morning) she was jjumping on and off my bed (which is 4 feet high) she ended up having 6 pups all girls then one boy..hoped I helped!
