What can I do about an itching ear?

Seriously, the insides of my ears itch all the time, so I do that little knuckle in the ear wiggle that makes me look like a dog with fleas. I’d like to avoid the embarrassment if possible :) Any suggestions?

Answer #1

put cream or lotion on it

Answer #2

You want me to put cream on the inside of my ear? that sounds like something bad waiting to happen.

Answer #3

Itch it.

Answer #4

Lol, how insightful. It never gets relieved though. It’s a constant shaking and it STILL itches. Ugh, it’s annoying.

Answer #5

Haha… you have had so many amazing replies to this question :P Erm, maybe consult a doctor and they might be able to prescribe some cream or something. I’m not sure to be honest :)

Answer #6

probably it will increase your itchiness if you keep on using ear bud to stop itching.the reason could be that your ears are dry and causing itchiness, what i always do is put mustard oil(a bit hot) in it 2-3 times a day and after that it actually stops my itchiness.its maybe strange to you but it actually works,i don’t think its a such a big thing that you go to doctor but if this idea don’t helps then you may consult and yeah oil is not harmful to your ears.

Answer #7

Hmmm, so I’ll have ears that smell like hot dogs. Works for me :)

Answer #8

no just use in nights :)

Answer #9

I get that when I get hay fever or other allergies. Fast acting antihistamines fix it for me.

Answer #10

Either you clean your ears too much, which is like washing your hair too often. It has the opposite effect of what you want. Then it produces to much wax, hence the itching.

Or you have a ear infection and pharmacists are usually pretty good at giving nice anti-itching ear drops for that.

But first, stop cleaning it and scratching it for a few days (yes it will be unbearable) and then go for the medicine.

Answer #11

Well you might try cleaning it well. I heard that mixing a teaspoon of baking soda to a half cup of water then flushing your ears with this mix will help clean your ears well. But this is only something I read, heaven’t personally tried it.

Answer #12

I was listening to the radio–not a good idea it said. but if it works for some people then knock yourself out

Answer #13

What wasn’t a good idea?

Answer #14

the baking soda or whatever for your ear

Answer #15

you also can use proxide :) and leave it n your ears for about a min

Answer #16

lol I think they meant for itching on the outside of the ear. :P
