"a word caught my ears" and "my ears caught a word"

“a word caught my ears” and “my ears caught a word”Which one is correct or are both sentences correct? How are they different?

Answer #1

They are one in the same, just depends on what you prefer to say, I say a word caught my ears

Answer #2

Slightly different… If a word caught your ears it means that the word was probably meaningful or important in some way. If your ears caught a word, it may mean that you were actively listening for it, and that it was your effort - rather than the nature of the word - that led to you noticing the word.

Answer #3

Also consider, “… a word caught my attention.”

Answer #4
