Is this true about olive oil?

If you put olive oil in your hair for a little while, will that make your hair silkier and shinier?

Answer #1

Don’t do the olive oil thing. It weighs hair down and dulls it. You have to use neat shampoo to get it out. Just add two drops of pure lavender oil to conditioner and leave it on the hair for a couple of minutes.

Yes and no. It depends on what type of hair you have. If you have thin or straight hair, don’t do it. It will make it greasy, besides being an absolute bbiiitccchhh to get out! Another variable is the amount. To play it safe, I recommend getting an Olive Oil enriched hair smoother, which comes in this clear container with a green top, I bought it at Sally Beauty Supply, which there is probably a store near you. Ask for it specifically, and apply a small amount and work into your hair while your straightening it, etc. But be careful, this is very strong so only use a bit to avoid that greasy dirty look.

If your just looking for shiny hair, I recommend looking up some Avocado hair treatments. My friend Bec does this all the time, and has smooth, silky, shiny hair.

Hope this helps!
