Is my baby ok?

Im almost 19 weeks pregnant…yesterday and today I have had severe pains in my lower stomach. Is this normal. …could it be caused from having sex? Is the baby ok? Im worried..

Answer #1

Its could be caused by sex or it can just be some “stretching pains” from your body stretching out from the pregnancy. If you worried call your doctor.

Probably not the best place for a rather emergent question, but here is my answer.

Sex can cause cramping. I believe it is the male ejaculation that does it, so wearing a condom might help if that becomes a regular issue.

If you do not know what a contraction feels like talk to several women who have already had a baby. Braxton-Hicks contractions are normal in all stages of pregnancy. You could be having one, a very strong one.

While not a woman I have been right there going through the pregnancy with women before. A very common idea from the medical professionals has been if you don’t know go in. At 19 weeks a lot of hospitals can’t do too much aside from an ultrasound, so call your doctor first. He may want to see your himself. At about 23-25 weeks hospitals should let you go to their labor and delivery (if they have it), if you are pregnant this is where you want to go. If you can get there at 19 weeks, that is where you want to be. There is much better care with people who are experiences with pregnancy.

It’s normal to have labor pains almost 5 months in but if it doesn’t let up and you start spotting then go to your obgyn. I’d go ahead and call them just to be safe.
