internet problems

What is a cache? I am having trouble trying to get back on my profile. We were without internet for about a week got a new modem, everything else is logging on good but funadvice. Asked a question last night on the site got an answer to clear my cache, but not sure what that is. I can’t even get to the part to see the questions, it brings me back to apage where everything is all on the left hand side of the page. Need your help–jjohnd61

Since nobody seems to have answered, I’ll try with the little that I know from experience, namely the ‘browser cache’ thing.

I have a weak dial-up connection (but then, I’m in a tiny mountain village in Cyprus and can’t complain otherwise). Especially with gmail I was always getting the message ‘your browser cache is full’. Finally I followed the instrructions they gave, and went into Tools (closing all other sites that were open at the time) and then into Internet Options. And found that the browser cache is apparently the ‘thing’ that stores all sorts of extra information on you as an internet user - like websites recently visited, temporary files made, passwords that you’ve asked to be remembered. And you can empty any of those categories, prfesumably making the cache lighter.

Mind you, I have no idea of emptying them helped, but that was the ‘cache’ anyhow.

Good luck!
