Do I need an ID on a plane if I'm a minor?

Just checking because I don’t really want to bring that with me. XD

Answer #1

Yeah. You’ll need your birth certificate, for sure.

Answer #2

Yes, however I flew to Florida from Indiana this last Christmas and I lost my ID before I got to the airport. They still let me on but they asked me a bunch of security questions. So most likely you’d still be able to fly, but definitely take it..

Answer #3

Depends on where you fly to. In some countries, even a baby will need a passport with a photo. Especially where they had problems with child abductions in the past.

In most European countries, an entry in the parents passport is sufficient for a minor under 16. While they need a personal travel document if they are older or travelling alone. In the US, it might be that you just need your birth certificate.

Call your airline and ask them if you want to be sure.

Answer #4

Taking your ID with is is a far simpler hassle than being detained by security guards until they can identify you.

Answer #5

I don’t have a birth certificate. And a school ID isn’t on the list of acceptable ID’s.
