Ice cold water and calories
How many calories would you burn by drinking ice cold water? I’ve heard different things mainly between 50-100 calories per cup.

In physics we learn that it takes 1 calorie to heat 1 ml or cc of water 1 degree C.
Ice water is 0C. Our core body temperature is 37C. Bringing 1 liter of water to body temperature would require 37,000 calories. WOW!
The problem is what a pysicist calls a calorie is different than what a dietician calls a calorie. A dietetic calory is 1,000 of what a physicist calls a calorie.
So drinking a liter of ice water burns only 37 calories.
You burn roughly 1 calorie per ounce of ice water you drink.
