How can I leave home?

I am going to be moving out with my BF and I am turning 18 next month, I am going to go to University in the Fall and my Finances are not an issue. The issue I am having is how I am going to ell my mom.. She is very hard to get across to and she is good at guilt tripping me, its not that i want to leave her completely its that i want my own personal freedom and i want to be able to maintain my friendship with my mother.. P.S. I have a 15 year old sister that I share a room with and she destroys all of my stuff and never bothers to treat me with any kind of respect.. we argue more then we talk civilly to one another, please help

the magic words are I WANT MY OWN PERSONAL FREEDOM..you will be 18 and as long as your 18 your mother has no power over you so if she even starts on you, you have the right to just up and leave without just dropping out of her life ..it sounds to me like your mother is a control freak and it sounds like shes trying to control your life..your plans are very adult like and you sound like you have it all together so go for your dream and dont let your mother stand in the way of that

When you turn 18, you will be able to move out of your home. Your mother needs to understand that you are growing up and you need to learn things for yourself and learn from your mistakes. She also needs to understand that you are not moving her out of your life, just putting a little bit of space between you and her and that you are just a phone call away if she will want to talk to you. Do not close the communication link with your mother, you will always need her in your life.
